A Change In Strategy

So mermaid is not on the drawing boards for MK afterall?

yeah what happened to the Imagination redo? As much as I want to see the Wonders of Life space brought back to life, Imagination is in need of help and "imagination".

I wouldn't write off TLM...

But I am curious about JII, as I said before. I would love to see a revamped WoL or even a weather pavilion although I would not like the fact that it's a FW West topic and that we already have Soarin'. But I digress.:D

I know we don't know what the 30,000,000 WoL project is yet, but I know that I would want EPCOT's other problems- SSE/JII/Aesthetics to be fixed first.

....Unless the 30,000,000 WoL is amazing.:lookaroun

I'm just hoping the $30M E-ticket is a typo. $30M buys you very little these days attraction-wise, and might be just enough for a Nemo-level ride. Not much more... Certainly not enough to rehab the entire pavilion and add an attraction as well.

Refurbishment of the pavillion is not included in the 30 million I stated.

30 mil can buy you plenty when it comes to an attraction when you don't overspend and overenflate like WDI tends to do.

Seriously, 30 mil can get you a lot.

As stated in the original post, though, 30 mil can be spent to open another pavilion that will draw guests to it and away from all of the other rides in FW. It'd be great to reduce wait times on TT and Soarin. I agree that JII needs some love, but I also think there needs to be more going on in FW to reduce some wait times and open another theme in another pavilion.

You got that right.

Look at the mots recent E-tickets.

E:E was 100 mil, but they build an entire mountain for the ride, and it has a 18-20ft tall animatronic figure inside.

M:S was 100 mil, but WDI and ETC partnered to create a whole new for of simulator for the attraction.

TT was 100 mil because they designed a new technology for the ride.

30 mil can get you a real quality simulator type E-ticket. So stop worrying people.

I had mentioned before that I was getting ready to break some important news online about upcoming changes at Walt Disney World which should be exciting to WDW fans. However, RFID - which was one of the major announcements - was leaked to Al Lutz, who took it and ran with it. RFID is a major, major change if it goes through at Walt Disney World and will change the way the entire ticketing system works. New RFID Tickets are being planned in a way so that they work as Fastpasses, Room Keys, EMH Passes, Dining Cards, etc. The etc part is what's exciting too. Current attractions which are being looked at for being made interactive in some way using your RFID tickets include:

- Haunted Mansion
- Peter Pan's Flight
- Snow White's Scary Adventures
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Monsters Inc Laugh Floor
- Space Mountain
- Spaceship Earth

What this highlights, however, is more importantly a change in strategy from inside the Walt Disney Company in regards to Walt Disney World Resort. Initially, there was great concern about the recession and how it would affect the resort, but I can tell you everyone is ecstatic about our numbers throughout Quarter 1 of this year. Walt Disney World Resort has not only weathered the harshest recesssion in well over a decade, but WDW has posted record attendance numbers, consistently posting numbers breaking or nearly breaking prior records on a daily basis for the same calendar blocks from years past.

Meanwhile, the industry is sagging. While the Walt Disney World Resort may not be profitting at the same level it was two years ago, the resort continues to be massively profitable for the company. Many other companies in the theme park industry, both domestically and internationally, are on the other side of that line. And so, I can tell you that attitudes have been changing, and projects which were previously placed on indefinite hold are being cleared once again. But more importantly, major additions are not only being considered, but are receiving initial approvals. This especially important because while other Disney theme parks have faired well, the Walt Disney World Resort has exceeded all expectations for the past several months.

The reason for the change in approach is that the Disney Company views this as a time to be aggressive. While other companies struggle, this is a great time for Walt Disney World to receive serious investments. In doing so, WDW is likely to exit the recession with major new reasons for guests to visit while other worldwide attractions have been unable or unwilling to expand during this time. This would setup WDW for even more profit. Additionally, however, while WDW is a massive area with many different things for guests to do and enjoy, the resort has had capacity issues for the past few months. Expansion is vital to continue growth (and no, I am not referring to a "5th gate").

So let me put this in some hard details for you so that you can see what I'm referring to when I say "aggressive":

- We're currently looking at a new E-Ticket for Epcot with a budget just under $30,000,000. The Wonders of Life pavillion will be open 365 if this gets approval. While Epcot has a massive guest capacity, wait times have simply been higher than preferable - an additional E-Ticket will hopefully pull wait times down for all your favorite attractions.

- We're currently looking at a new E-Ticket thrill ride for Magic Kingdom which will coincidentally expand the park's area for the first time in over 20 years. This will not create a new "land" and is not "Bald Mountain."

- At Hollywood Studios, a new Pixar-based Roller Coaster has the green light and the Pixar Studios area will enter a phase 2 in construction which will expand its border to Streets of America. A new Star Tours experience is on the way, and there's still more...

- At Animal Kingdom, plans are a bit more longterm... but only because Camp Minnie-Mickey's days are numbered.

I also can tell you about some changes planned for the way options work with the Magic Your Way tickets, but we'll save that for another day.

Have a great day everyone.
Do you work for WDI or WDW? Whn you say interactive' do you mean SSE 07 interactive or something else? I don't want Video Screens in my Doombuggy' thank you.

I just thought of something. Could it be only $30 million because it will basically be a quick fix designed to absorb the crowds that would be displaced by a long term closure of JII? Kinda like the Stitch theater will do this summer while SM and TTA are closed. This seems logical to me.

They way that WDW Insider worded the Epcot news indicated to me that somehow the $30 million E-Ticket and Wonders of Life were linked, but the $30 million E-Ticket wasn't necessarily in Wonders of Life.

I think he meant the franchise as a whole not the attractions in the theme parks. If so, I agree. I seriously doubt there will be another motion picture despite the rumors.

Now Star Trek on the other hand......

There was never going to be another song of the south yet they still built Splash Mountain 40 years after the films release

Im sorry but I have to call this guy out as a fraud and i know a thing or two about frauds. Don't believe the hype folks.

I am really excited to see what they mean by making WoL operational 365 daysa year. Will all the original rides re-open?

We were not refering to park attractions just the movie franchise. Back to thread topic.

Again, I think the 30 mil is for FW's version of a Stitch theater while JII v. 4 is completed.....in my opinion.

Lee has already said some of it is true.
