A Change In Strategy

What this highlights, however, is more importantly a change in strategy from inside the Walt Disney Company in regards to Walt Disney World Resort. Initially, there was great concern about the recession and how it would affect the resort, but I can tell you everyone is ecstatic about our numbers throughout Quarter 1 of this year. Walt Disney World Resort has not only weathered the harshest recesssion in well over a decade, but WDW has posted record attendance numbers, consistently posting numbers breaking or nearly breaking prior records on a daily basis for the same calendar blocks from years past.

And yet Fantasmic was cut to 2 nights supposedly because attendance was going to be so low.

^ I figured, seeing we already have a Frontierland Flume. But I'd think Indy'd go into DHS, right? Retheme to Prince of Persia? The movie's not really important, it's the "Temple of Traps" idea.

I would hope not. PoP will most likely be terrible. Give me Indy, or something original.

This all sounds amazing. Almost too good to be true. If this goes on....Wow. I think most of WDW's current issues would be appeased.

But why am I reminded of Redis?:lookaroun

Not sure how long Indy popularity's gonna hold up. But animation is the way to go now in the MK, and Snow's looking pretty good.

Indy's been popular since the first day people saw him put his hat on, and he's one of the most iconic characters in movie history. He's never going to lose popularity. Besides, the show still packs the people in.

You've honestly got a screw loose if you think Indiana Jones is losing popularity.

I think he meant the franchise as a whole not the attractions in the theme parks. If so, I agree. I seriously doubt there will be another motion picture despite the rumors.

Now Star Trek on the other hand......

Except the last movies had the 11th biggest opening weekend of all time.

And the DVD of KotCS has grossed almost 100mil, and each of the first three has close to the same numbers. And the show is still insanely popular at the Studios.

But you're right, Indy's popularity has dropped significantly.

I'm a fan of the franchise. IJatLC is one of my favorite movies. The cinematography was outstanding. But I just couldn't get into the last movie. I fear it has "jumped the shark" with the last installment. But the main point is Disney is better off sticking with animation at the MK. That was the whole point. Not a debate about IJ's future. Time will tell on that.

Sorry, but I can't agree. Unless it's the Tiki Room, or bringing FotLK in, keep animation out of Adventureland. Indy would be a perfect fit. There's too much focus on animation at MK as it is already.

Unless it's FL, I don't want a new attraction based on an animated movie.

And what's that supposed to mean? I thought it was a worthy addition to the Series.

It's like a containment policy...

All the Animation in FL

All the Pixar in DHS

All the futurism in EPCOT.

Speaking of EPCOT BTW...This WoL $30,000,000E Tic is a little boggling in regards to other EPCOT plans. Where would the JII Revamp fit into these plans?

Yes, Lion King and Stitch would be great. See, we agree.

Personally I'd be ecstatic if they added an IJ hybrid coaster/water flume to Asia or a new South America land at AK where RPW is. I don't hate Indiana Jones, I just worry about the franchises future. There really isn't anywhere they can go with it unless they reboot the origin story. I think HF is done with the character anyway.

OK, I'm done drifting

So mermaid is not on the drawing boards for MK afterall?

yeah what happened to the Imagination redo? As much as I want to see the Wonders of Life space brought back to life, Imagination is in need of help and "imagination".
