And that amount of money is why we stay at POP, get the deluxe meal package and all out ticket days for two weeks, as opposed to staying at the Poly for less than a week with no add ons. Some people have money to burn, and that is cool. But I can tell you, we have just as good a time spending under $5000 for a total 2 week vacation, than some people have spending over $10,000.

Anything over $100 a night for a room on Disney property is a waste. You are there to shower and sleep. You may get a great view and be close to a park, but whoop tee doo.

I have stayed at POP and will be staying there this coming December prior to our cruise and to an extent I do agree with you. However, our last trip we stayed at the Yacht club and the proximity of the resort to Epcot was invaluable. We are huge Epcot fans and being able to just pop on over at a moments notice was awesome. I have another conference there in 2014 and with the conventioneer rate, it comes to 175$ pre tax. Well worth it in my opinion.

For some perspective, when WDW opened in 1971, a room in the Garden Wing of the Contemporary Resort cost $22/night, about $125/night today. For its first couple of decades, WDW's room occupancy rate was essentially 100% and rooms at what we now call "Deluxe Resorts" were reasonably priced.

For some additional perspective, similar rooms at similar quality hotels at Universal often can be obtained for half the WDW price and, of course, those rooms include the best onsite perk offered at any theme park: unlimited express pass.

Who would spend even 300 a night just for a hotel room???? Not me i can tell you that much

...anyone staying at any deluxe and paying full price, a lot even with a discount.

I paid over $300 a night at a crappy Courtyard by Marriott in Houston a few months back and the toilet broke the first night (technically my company paid over $300). I booked last minute and there was some rodeo in town or something so the place was pretty much sold out and that was the rate. I couldn't make this crap up if I tried.

When you have no choice you have no choice. But at disney you have plenty of choices. Yes if your rich or you are having a once in a life time vacation you are going to pay out of your ( ) ...... I guess thats what disney counts on for those rooms. Cause i can never ever be able to afford that kind of vacation.

I just can't fathom that price since you could stay at the Waldorf Astoria in Bonnet Creek with a firework view on September 27th for $369 where you get unparalleled service and amenities.

Yeah, I keep forgetting about "free dining."
The only way it would ever be free if there were no non-discounted restrictions. In truth I guess it should be called "dining included at this price" but truth and marketing don't exactly go together.

Who cares about free dining. Stay at the Waldorf for 300.00 a night cheaper, and then use that 300.00 a night to party like there's no tomorrow!

There are plenty of people who can and do pay that much for rooms. I don't think they're dumb or begrudge them their wealth. They want to be in the bubble - more power to them.

But you can stay somewhere SO much nicer, with better service, for SO much less.

I wouldn't stay there. Not in one room. Not for that amount. Nope!
