We purchased our oldest son, he was 10 during our last WDW trip, a Hidden Mickeys book from e-bay before our trip last year.
It is called "Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide To Walt Disney World's Best Kept Secrets 3rd Edition" by Steven M. Barrett.
He is still enjoying the book!

I'm not sure if this is the same book to which ThinkTink refers, but there is a book of Hidden Mickeys available ubiquitously in all four parks. It has a yellow cover and the words Hidden Mickeys very clearly printed on it; if Magic Kingdom is your first park, you will be able to find it at either of the small shops on either side of the entrance plaza. It is also available inside that park and the other three. Of course, if someone can give you the title, you can purchase it for your daughter in advance. There are also various different Hidden Mickey websites you could access with her, which you can find on Google. I wish you both a great trip!

I'm not sure who wrote the one we have, we just picked it up at one of the stores (The Art of Disney in EPCOT I beleive). It's a good book which I think would be suited to kids.

Yes same book. I also say go to Amazon, you can find it pretty cheap. I got one before my last trip, and its really helpful on finding the hidden Mickeys. You can either do the "game" where it gives hints and you find them on your own, or you can flip to the end and it will tell you exactly where to look.

great book

Last trip both of my daughters (8 & 6 at the time) loved it :sohappy:
The person with the most points at the end of the day decided which park we went to the next day. It put a spin on our holiday :p

Here is an odd suggestion - don't get her one. Not unless you go to WDW a lot.

Why? Because as soon as someone gets one of these, they tend to be on the lookout for HM's on ALL the rides - so much, that they often miss the ride. Happened to my wife and I for a while - then we put the book DOWN.

I disagree.....it made me appreciate the attractions on a different level, pay more attention to the detail of the whole attraction and not just take things for their face value. Besides there are a lot of HMs that are in the queue or after the ride that wouldn't take away from the ride. It makes another fun way to enjoy Disney and its something that everyone can do and enjoy

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Yeah, that book is probably the best. On my last trip I forgot my 2nd edition at home, so I had an excuse to buy the 3rd edition at the parks!
There are some other fun books out there that have other secrets (like the umbrella at DHS and the voice lesson you can hear from the right spot on Main Street), but I don't think all of their secrets are "Disney Kosher," so they don't sell those in the parks.
It does take some self control, though. Steve actaully writes in his book to be careful to not get TOO obsessed with Hidden Mickeys, and to keep appreciating everything else at WDW!

I disagree, to me it adds something that I can do. I try to go 4 to 5 times a year, which means I encounter every crowd level imaginable. Whenever the parks are jammed and wait times are higher than I am willing to wait, I can pull the book out from my backpack and go on a little hunt until the waits go down.

It's another fun aspect to WDW that helps you appreciate the details around the parks.

I think hidden mickeys are a lot of fun, but don't let it be your only focus. Maybe agree to try and find a certain few on each trip..... I become frustrated if I can't find certain ones....don't become overly obsessed with searching.

U guys do realize this is for my 9 year old?? I think her focus on anything lasts for about 5 to 10 min. This is just something fun to do.

Thanks again for the book suggestions!! We bought it this weekend. She loves it.
