I know you said you saw the original plans a long while ago. Did the plans really change or get enhanced like what was suggested in that article? Any idea of which characters will be in the cottage scene or the scope of that part of the ride? That seems to be the only mystery left for this ride.
Yes, the design changed last year. Not in a huge way, mostly just in the face as I understand it.

So I assume that the figures are so impressive that they'll make the 60+ minute wait worth it.

What is in fantasyland that IS worth the 60+ minute wait?

My point is that when we (finally) see it, we can be critical of Disney for the execution of the attraction, but if you start expecting that it will be some sort of Expedition Everest (before the Yeti went Disco) clone, then you're going to be disappointed without reason to be.

SDMT has been marketed as a cool, brand new edition to Fantasyland. Fantasyland--where you sit it little hunny pots and clamshells and flying ships and teacups and don't go very fast or see anything that's too intense or mind-blowing (maybe the teacups are too intense for some of us, but still. . .). It's all just good, simple, well-executed, family fun. Judge it by how it fits in with THOSE attractions before you get too cynical.

If you want to start a discussion on the fact that there is such a glut of new attractions throughout WDW that MIGHT be worth a 60 minute wait and because of that, we are all spending way too much time discussing the only recent thing that is close to a major attraction but isn't really (deep inhale)--then you have a point, and I will agree wholeheartedly with you. However, don't take it out on the Mine Train.

These are amazing! I hope they can keep them looking this good!

I agree. Far more impressive, 3-dimensional and life-like (in the cartoonish way you'd expect, from the film) than I ever dared to dream, and with those projections they're going to show up beautifully in full color despite the darkness of the mine -- again, like they did in the movie.

shouldn't be too hard to keep up, the technology is not new... Leota and her flying crystal ball, patato head at TSMM, Buzz at astroblasters, all the Cars characters in DCA... proven systems. now the only caveat, is the rose using the same projection? i do not think so, since all the others, leota included, is being projected onto a white, formed base layer... where the rose is projected into glass to refract into the correct image?

I hope sneezy really sneezes and sprays a mist onto the riders

I think it would be cool, but I don't think it's a good idea given the kind of reception that we get for Stich "burping". You know we'll get some crazy parent complaining that Sneezy made their child sick.
