[QUOTE="spacemt354, post: 6037970, member: 83356"And besides, the general consensus regarding the attraction was not that they were bringing the figures over. That was an outlying opinion.
[/QUOTE]

It may not have been insiders saying they were bringing over the old figures, but it sure was the snarky answer by folks that wanted to be negative. Between that and cardboard cutouts, it was all the rage to use that as the snarky response to the kiddie coaster lovers.

Yeah! All Uni builds is screens and calls it immersive. Like the cheap lame screen effect below.

It will be interesting to compare the dwarfs AAs with the goblins AAs.

I got a free minute and decided to replace the awful weird music in the Dwarf Animatronic video with "Heigh Ho" -- as you'll see, it worked especially well for Bashful (though he sings Grumpy's part, but I recall hearing the dwarfs voices are new recordings, so I'm sure that won't be the case in the ride), and generally suits the video better than whatever that random music was:

Nice job!

My take on them... they just don't look that great at all to me. I'm hoping it's just the lighting, but the faces just are too bright and flashy to fit in with the body IMO. I would have preferred traditional AAs like those seen in LM. Dopey just looks flat out terrible. It doesn't even look like him. The only reason you can tell is tpthat he is wearing his purple hat and he has diamonds in his eyes. I really hope they'll look better in person...oh and I hope they actually whistle "Whistle While You Work".

I would find it a bit confusing if they did! That was the song that Snow White sang as she and the animals cleaned up the cottage. I don't think the dwarves ever sang it...

Although I find the dwarves to look pretty cool, I will wait to judge the scenes while moving through them at the speed the coaster is going, which will be in July this summer. All this 30 second snippet does is give you some idea of what they will look like. I would rather wait to see them from the planned viewing angles all working (hopefully) in concert in completely and appropriately themed show scenes. Also, I don't agree with some of the AA comparisons being made in this thread. To me, comparing to the CoP or HoP AAs is not an accurate comparison as you sit for extended periods of time watching them so they must portray more than simple repetitive movements.

Comparisons to PotC, LM or Peter Pan's Flight would be more suitable as you are on a true ride moving at a steady pace through show scenes. To me, and again just my opinion, I don't find that any of the AA movements on those rides are anything to write home about. For those rides, I am more impressed with how you are immersed in the show scenes. I would say that Peter Pan's Flight is the perfect example of this but as I am no expert in AAs, do the simple figures in that dark ride even count as AAs? I feel the same about SM. I love that ride tremendously and loved each of the scenes you move through, but to say that those figures are amazing with intricate and non-repetitive movements is a leap. Where rides like PotC, LM and Peter Pan's Flight win is the total number of immersive show scenes (i.e., a lot more than just 2). Then again, there can probably only be so many on a coaster ride.

I have had mixed opinions of face-projected AAs at WDW: Buzz Lightyear = not impressed (at all); Mr. Potato Head = a little impressed (my kids really enjoyed this one though); Lumiere = extremely impressed. Again, these are just my opinions, and I am hoping that each time they make a new ride using them that they can advance the technology. I know that there is something about the AAs in rides like PPF that are neat from a nostalgic perspective, but I know that those types of characters are already becoming unimpressive to my kids. My 2 boys (7 and 11) are already becoming unimpressed with those types of AAs because of comments like "they don't look real" or "their faces look the same." I think having AAs with complete facial expressions, and that move when speaking, will really add to these types of rides in the future.

Now if only WDW would start building more rides. Mr Iger, have you been to FW lately!

Coming from this Unitard, I will say that I am glad that WDI is working on new tech. And I think we really need to wait to truly judge these AAs until they at least finish tweaking the show lighting. And see them in person. Video tend to blow out some of the detail and heighten the "glowing" effect. So far, I think they are interesting. This is going to be a very nice D Ticket.

Doesn't matter what anyone says. Some people may think they are the greatest thing ever, it's all opinion, not fact. I gave everyone the benefit of the doubt, and while I personally think they are great, not the greatest thing ever though, someone else may think they are. It's all opinion. It's not a fact. You don't have to be an insider to say something is great. Different strokes...

Hogsmead is beautiful (a bit claustrophobic).

There are equally stunning photos of new fantasy land as well, it too is beautiful (and claustrophobic).

I believe the screen comments are geared towards the indoor portions of the rides. God help us if we get outdoor screens scenes.

I follow the boards enough to know who to trust in knowledge.

That will never stop the snark that comes from the people that WANT TO BE insiders. Nor will it stop that information being gathered by newer members or casual followers from hearing it and repeating it.

The snide "I'm better than you" attitude that are coming from people, is rather disgusting. Just like sports radio, and talk shows like Howard Stern, there are posters here that have personas, Captain Chaos. People who only want to stir the pot, and take glee in peeing in other people's punch bowls. You cannot deny that. It's fact not fiction.

Snark reigns king here.
I'm not going to disagree with you on that... Yes, there are people here who are just negative for the sake of being negative, never said otherwise... Just like there are people here who are positive for the sake of being positive (just as bad as being negative for the sake of being negative)... Then there are those who are and can be fair and balanced, who praise when it is deserved, and bash when it is deserved... I don't know anything about you or your posting history to know where you fall... I'll assume fair and balanced because 95% of this board is fair and balanced... the 5% minority fall into the other two categories, but sadly, they seem to be the most vocal... Honestly, I'm sick of the overly negative people as well... That's why IGNORE is a wonderful tool... :)

But again, as far as the snark, it is no ones' fault but their own if they believed the snark comments and took them as fact or for some dumb reason believed the snark comments were true insider information... Then come on here, call these animated figures a pleasant surprised based off of fake information from know nothing wannabe insiders posting snarky comments, it's a failed argument... All they had to do was listen to a real insider... Then these figures would not be a pleasant surprise... They would realize these figures are exactly what was promised, what was described... Nice for what they are, but nothing earth shattering...

How they look can be a matter of opinion, but the complexity of their movement and the sophistication of the technology is not a matter of opinion. There have been repeated hype of technologically advanced figures, and there are none shown. That honest recognition doesn't mean they do not look good or are not appropriate to the scale of the attraction, but it still stands.

Yea, I know. I was just pointing out that the comments saying that Universal doesn't build immersive environs and just uses screens is a bit ridiculous. And I trust that Diagon Alley will be pretty darned immersive as well.

While not earth shattering, I don't see how these AAs are NOT technologically advanced. They may not have technologically advanced movements, but the whole face projections are new. Is it impressive? Not really, but it is kinda cool.

Personally, I was pleasantly surprised.

And I am down the line (I enjoy Uni and WDW, go to both each trip). I am honest, and if I like something I say so, and if not I say so (looking right at you Little Mermaid).

I just get so annoyed when people cannot respect others opinions, and feel they have to stay in character to be the cool kid that hates, just to hate, because it's popular. The whole thing stinks like the Star Wars Prequel debating (LUCAS KILLED OUR CHILDHOOD MEMORIES).

We are al here because we love the place, otherwise we'd not be passionate, but like Sports, there are times that we all don't agree on the hows or whys, but we still agree that we love our team.

It's just not fair to trash the people that are on the positive side, because they do not see the same flaws. (Ditto for the overly positive people).

So it's OK to say, "Hey these Dwarfs look great!" Like I said, looking at the pictures Lee Posted and the description that Merlin psted on page 1 here, I expected PAN level figures. These are better than that, so I was surprised.

That is a good point. These did not have to be the most advanced AAs ever built, not for this experience.

Key phrase right there, respect others opinions... I get annoyed as well... This really goes for both sides... We have seen it over and over again... And we will until the end of time... I wish opinions would be respected no matter which side you are on... I wish more of us would be/could be more accepting and understanding of each others' opinions and debate it like rational people.... Some people just cannot be rational...
