7 Dwarfs Mine Train was...

Size wise the seat for the ride itself is not bad, i watched some big guys get in but to sit in cars the issue is the length of ones leg to knee to wedge it under the bar. the space is close and that is the real issue not bulk in size but getting you leg under the bar so if you have really long legs(shin) its gonna be tough as there just is not enough room to straighten your legs in it and that is the real issue with the space.

From watching the ride through, the mine part looks really cool as does the cottage at the end of the ride. It does seem a little short though. IMO, however, if a ride is short and ridiculously amazing in detail, then I can overlook the shortness. This ride does not seem to have as much in terms of detail though. I will have to wait til I can actually ride it to make a judgement but that won't be for a few years. Glad to see most everyone is enjoying it though! :)

The fact that it only has one show scene is what bothers me. If it had one or two more show scenes, I would view the ride as an outstanding addition. Right now, I view it as an ok addition.

Yeah I think most people agree that a second mine scene would have made a dramatic difference. Also, I think it would have been nice if they had some scenes either as you left loading (maybe having Dopey or Doc welcome you in some way) or had more scenery outside, like static figures of the dwarfs walking to or from work.

It does have two show scenes, the mine and the cottage.

Do you real count the cottage as a show scene? To me, I guess I would call it a show piece or something. It's not big enough to be called a scene. I mean compare the size to that of the scene in the mine. It's not even in the same ballpark.

Completely agree with this. I rode four times so that has to say something, lol. It was fun. It would be really stellar if there were more to it.

We rode at night and then during the day and had a great time. Everyone was singing and had their hands in the air in my car during the night ride creating a festive atmosphere.
However, I think there is plenty of indoor slow scenes and the ride needs about 15 secs of more coaster to be just right.
I was left with a renewed appreciation for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Let me be clear, I'm not denying that this will be a fun ride (I've haven't ridden it yet). I like the AA's and think the mine scene is done well. I'm just disappointed that a company that built Splash Mountain, a company that used to go the extra mile, builds a ride with one show scene that is this short.

Overhyped.....while I think the ride is fun, the theme is great, and I love the detail of the mountain itself,I just think it would have been better if it had opened with the rest of fantasyland. Leaving that much time between openings left too much anticipation, speculation, and hype about what it was going to be like.

Is it a smooth ride?
My mom has a bad back and can't handle big thunder or space mountain but she can do rock n roller coaster.

Is the Mine Train a go or no for my momma?

I personally have not ridden it yet but from what I have heard it sounds like it is very smooth.

I rode it.
  • The interactive cue was pretty cool.
  • The train was very tight. I'm 5'8" 210 pounds with a 34 inch waist and I was very uncomfortable.
  • The swinging roller coaster cars were awesome and I really look forward to riding an attraction that fully takes advantage of the new ride technology (read bigger, longer, faster attraction)
  • SDMT is a very very short ride and there isn't much story telling. I hate to say it but it's about as good as Ariel in that i'll ride it again but i'm not waiting over 20 minutes to do so.

When I was at WDW, they had laid down the tracks for the ride but that was about it. From what I've seen in videos, it looks like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad but for kids. And with dwarfs.

7 Dwarfs Mine Train was...

cute
short
not nearly worth the posted wait times
not something we would do again unless it was a walk-on
the best ride in New Fantasyland (which is faint praise)

Did I mention it was short. With our FP, we were on and off in 5 minutes including ride time. No one had a strong opinion one way or another except that the people waiting in line an hour or more were out of their minds. Anything more than 20 minutes is too long for what it is.
