7 Dwarfs Mine Train was...

One more question:

On another thread, the OP said that larger people won't fit well on this ride. He was 6 ft 4 or 5 and described himself as being heavy from what I understood. He didn't get to ride because he couldn't get the bar down... or something along those lines. DH is 5 ft 11 and muscular. Do those of you who rode think he'll have a problem? I asked on the other thread but the response I got wasn't clear, and I didn't want to keep bothering him.

I could probably believe this post. When I rode, I sat next to a pretty well built guy (he was around 6"1) I'm only 5"8 and 140 lbs and we were really squeezed in there.

Oh I definitely believe him lol... it's just that DH had some bad experiences when he was younger and heavier with not being able to fit on rides so I'd hate for him to relive that... we have both lost a lot of weight since then but he's still healthy looking and thick because he's so built. I'm fairy small at 5 ft 2 and 130 pounds but I'm not sure if that will help given the seating on the ride. Should I save him any embarrassment and skip it? He doesn't really care about it anyway, and I'm more curious than anything so no big deal.

It's not to the point where you're so crammed that you're on top of each other, it's just a little tight. For example, his forearms were touching mine, that was pretty much it (I'm one of those people that needs their personal space).

If I could compare it with any and other attraction at WDW, the vehicles are similar to Everest's or RRC's.

Ok. Sounds like we should be okay then. Thanks! :)

I rode at 3:00 in the morning for Rock Your Disney Side, and it was fabulous! Although, it wasn't worth the two hour wait.

But I must say, the dwarves looked fantastic! That was definitely the highlight of the ride! The coaster itself was amazingly smooth and quiet. The big drop was awesome as well!

The big drop? I am planning on taking my 3 year old on this when we go in a couple week, but she's not a fan of big drops. Is it a "scary" drop?

Oh no!! It's not bad all! It's very smooth, but it gives you a that dropping sensation in your stomach (only a tad).
I guess it depends in where you sit. I sat near the back, so the dips really caught me by surprise.

Ride is very smooth and the drop is not that bad. As far as fitting in the ride I am 6'2 and fit well in the seats, it is a tad of a squeeze but nothing uncomfortable. I think every train should give riders 2 trips :joyfull:

The ride is OK. The show scene is great and so is the scenery. I think the swinging cars take away from the thrill. Instead of feeling pushed around your seat like on Big Thunder Mountain, the cars make it like an airplane turn where you are kept in your seat.

It also needed more story. In the normal dark ride, you can figure the story out while you are riding. Snow White's Scary Adventure, although not very high tech, told a story.

It would have been much better with 2 or 3 more show scenes that told a story (the cottage at the end doesn't really have a connection to the beginning of the ride although it is well done) and less "thrill ride." The thrill part is like a kiddy coaster and there is already one of those in Fantasyland.

It was also WAY too short.

I hope the smoothness lasts but I remember Expedition Everest was incredibly smooth when it opened and now it vibrates a lot even in the pre-lift hill area.

The bottom line is that if I hadn't managed to get a FP+ (by checking the app in the morning and getting a 9:05 AM slot) which led to a 2 minute wait to loading and I had waited over a half hour, I would have been disappointed. It's a quality ride but honestly for the same wait time I'd rather ride Peter Pan.

I rate rides by what wait time is worth it. Splash is at the top of the scale at 60 minutes. I'd put SDMT at 15 minutes. I wouldn't use a pre-reserved FP+ on it but I would use an add-on FP+ if they are available.

Mines was FUN! short but the wait was not bad but will qualify the line moved well Friday for ROCK during the day slowed down at night. Will be interesting to see if line slows alot once full Fast pass opens cause that in full swing WILL slow down the queue when they listed 60 minutes we were on 2 times in less than 40. again on Monday short wait said 60 on in less than 45.
The ride agreed slow to start, in mines great color and characters. Finish much better. overall good fun ride. True to story. ALways a nice touch...

.

The "story" is that you see them working in the mine, then they sing "Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho, it's home from work we go" and then you see them at home. With the witch watching as a foreboding image of things to come .

Yes, I agree that the story could have been lengthened - perhaps have a scene with the witch giving Snow white the apple, then with her "dying" and then with the Prince awakening her. But not the original story (not the Disney version) which had the witch/evil queen dancing in red hot iron shoes at the wedding. Or even the Disney version which had the witch falling over a cliff.

But there is a story.

Lighting issue is true that whole area around the Mine is very dark and for the overnight and evening it is tough to see when walking around, people were tripping all over on friday. The mine: the light IN the mine its great, very appropriate for the story but the outside could use help and YEP its easy to miss the witch if in back half of train which i did the first time i rode it and depending on the sun its actually kind of hard to see into the house to see the characters dancing away. You can see them fine at night without the glare.

As for size questions, I am a very large fellow, especially in the belly, and I have ridden it twice and while yes, its tight, its nothing I would complain about.

Well if the ride was any different it wouldn't be a cookie cutter clone ;)

I don't agree it's anything like Barnstormer. Does that even have a dark ride portion, or a show set, or an elaborate queue? Maybe just in length, sure, but most coasters aren't going to be more than a couple of minutes in length, really.

It's not even similar in length. The Barnstormer has slightly over a minute ride length. The 7DMT is over twice as long.
