4 Walt Disney World Resorts to accept dogs

In POR now and during our first day have seen 2 dogs - one being taken for a walk by his owner (so I’m not sure how much control they would have had if that dog had seen something and run off) and the other in the car park at block. 24

On a side note I didn’t get any communication about the dog policy I only knew about it because of this forum which I don’t think is right on Disney’s part.

Just thought a current update might be of use!
Just curious, why wouldn't the owner have control of the dog if he'd "seen something"? Most dog responsible dog owners don't take their dogs out for walks unless they are confident they can control them in all situations. Most dogs who are walked regularly are pretty used to seeing new things and don't try to run away when they're on leash. Now I'm not saying that there aren't dog owners out there who have dogs who aren't trained to walk on leash who would try to run off, but that I don't tend to see those types of dogs out and about when I'm walking my dog.

Further update from POR - have just seen a dog in a non designated block or area being taken for a walk and doing his business on the grass where he shouldn’t be
The front desk have confirmed that if anyone checks in online they can book non designated rooms and blocks.
So there is still no control over this policy and clearly lots of work to be done - we have informed them of this and have left it to them to see if they enforce the policy like all the information states they will!

This is only my opinion, the dog was quite big and the owners were being dragged along but like you say maybe they were confident, they just didn’t look in control.

The dog did his/her business on the grass --was it something the owners needed to pick up and did they?

We don’t think they needed to pick it up but we had been told the dog owners should be going to designated areas for this.
I’m not sure if everyone is being told the same thing though and I think it just depends who you speak to in Disney

I would definitely report those people, and the type of dog, to the front desk.

Any dog owner should have a baggie with them. If they don’t, then they should get a fine... or at least a warning. Even dog relief areas have bags to pick up waste. I have a dog and would be annoyed if someone didn’t pick up after their own dog.

I sure hope all those little baggies are biodegradable. If not, some archaeologist is in for quite the find in a few hundred years...

That's so disgusting, and not surprising at all. How does a dog "know" to hold it til he gets to the designated potty place? They don't. They go on the first grass they see. I'm glad you informed the front desk of this. A phone picture would work too. I hope they change their minds about this. Until then, we have changed our reservations to POFQ for this spring.

So, if WDW does not post "do not walk on the grass" signs at the dog resorts and I walk on the grass and slip and fall due to dog mess not being cleaned up who do I sue -----Disney or the dog owner. I am being sarcastic but people have sued and won for stranger things

Do you typically find yourself tripping and slipping on dog crap at home when going for a walk?
These hypotheticals are getting ridiculous.

I do have to be careful when crossing the grass strip between the sidewalk and road (to get to my parked car) because some dog owners do not pick up after their dogs. I have been "surprised" more than once, especially at night. If I were walking quickly I could very well slip and fall.

They're awful about scooping in our downtown/waterfront area. It's especially annoying because not only can your shoes end up gross if you aren't careful, but we're a tourist town, too and the area I'm referencing is directly across from the most popular historical attractions in town.

Where I live the dog poop bags get thrown in trees, under bushes, stuffed in cracks in masonry and generally disposed of in any place but a trash barrel. People seem shamed into picking up the poop with a bag but incapable of disposing of it properly. I considered starting an instagram of all the ridiculous poop disposal situations I have seen like the two I saw yesterday stuffed into knot holes in trees. Seems to me it is better to leave it as it is rather than bag it and then toss it in the woods. In a thousand years our ancestors will think we worshiped dog poop or something because we wrapped it in plastic to preserve for posterity.

Prime example of how some people don't give a s____ about anything. I think WDW is in for a rude awaking. New WDW job discription: Dog Sanitation Engineer--- quaiifications -- CM must beable to sniff out problems and make a clean sweep of the area
