It’s just over a year since our last trip to the World, the longest no-WDW stretch that we’ve endured in ages, so the next 30 days are either going to go very slowly…or very quickly. Since I’ve been enjoying the trip and pre-trip reports on here lately, I thought I’d let off a little WDW-anticipation with a brief pre-trip report.
Travelers are just the two of us, me and my hubby of 24 years, Rob (we have no children). Normally, we visit WDW during the first week in May, which coincides with our wedding anniversary and allows me, an avid gardener, to enjoy the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival. We spent some of our honeymoon at WDW, then couldn’t even afford to take a vacation for several years! We went back to WDW for our tenth anniversary, and have visited that week every year until last year, when we went at the end of March instead, to take advantage of the “free admission on your birthday” for Rob. Thanks to the ever-expanding F&G festival, we were still able to attend, even in March! So, we haven’t missed a F&G festival since 2002. This year, we will be catching the very end of the Festival. We planned it this way to maximize the APs we plan to buy, to stretch out the vacation budget. We’ll get this four-day trip, 9 days in October, then return to our regular early-May visit in 2011. Although I’ve already said, for our 25th anniversary, we’ll be doing a little more than visiting WDW (as much fun as it is, I’m hoping that for such a milestone, we can manage an actual visit to a couple of those World Showcase countries!)
We’ll fly out of LaGuardia on a late flight Friday night (thanks to frequent flyer miles, we’ve got no-cost airfare!!), checking in to our 1BR Boardwalk Villa hopefully just after midnight, get some sleep, and wake up ready to take on a full day at WDW!
We’ll be planning on spending all day Saturday and most of Sunday at Epcot to take in all the Flower & Garden festivus, and I am completely psyched to see Ahmad Hassan of HGTV, I love his show! We have four opportunities to see him, at noon and 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday. I hope we’ll be able to get in to one of those presentations! I’m also looking forward to the “Disney Gardening at Home” presentation on unique plants, which take place at 11 am and 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday (again, just want to get in to one of them, but I don’t want to spend half my day on line, either!).
I’ve got ADRs as follows:
Saturday – Dinner at Tutto Italia
Sunday –Dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse
Monday – Lunch at Sci-Fi, Dinner at Artist Point
Tuesday—Lunch at Biergarten, Dinner at Chefs de France
Wednesday – Lunch at Coral Reef
Sunday night is EMH at DHS, so I figured we’d take in the end of the F&G, mosey out the International Gateway for dinner at the Yacht Club at 7:05, then walk off our meal on the way to DHS, which is open until midnight.
On Monday, MK has evening EMH (‘til 1am), so we might have a late breakfast (the full kitchen in the 1BR unit means I can cook a hearty breakfast each morning), then head over there to absorb some atmosphere and ride a few rides, and maybe peek over some construction walls. I’ve planned dinner at Artist Point (because I don’t really love any of the MK TS restaurants) then thought we’d head back into MK for Spectro and the Fireworks.
Tuesday’s looking like another Epcot day, based on our meal schedule. Two TS meals is kind of a lot in one day, though, so maybe I’ll drop one of them and split our time with another park, maybe AK.
After lunch at Coral Reef on Wednesday, we’ll have to head for the airport for our flight home.
It’s a short trip, but should tide me over until our Food & Wine Festival excursion in October!
