24 hours EARLY

hello we have our trip already paid for and it's in 12 days however the only train tickets we were able to buy to Orlando have us a day AHEAD of our original check in day for Disney World. What can be done in this situation? Will they at least take our bags? We have a toddler and we are wondering will we have to wait "outside" for 24 hours like bums or not. We have no car down there so we can go anywhere else really besides Disney. Any idea what might happen or what we can do?

Welcome aboard

You're going to have to get a hotel room for the night - they're plentyful around Disney BUT make sure you book it before you leave home.

Taxis will take you from the station to your hotel, and likewise the following day when you leave for Disney.

I very much doubt that Disney will accept your luggage 24hrs in advance - anyway, you'll need it ovenight won't you ???

What resort are you staying at?
It would probably be a waste to grab that night in someplace like Poly or Contemporary...but you can get a place in All Star or Pop for under $100, you are already on property...can have your luggage transferred....best option I believe.

You can also contact WannabeBelle ^ and see if she can make the arrangements for you.

^Echoing the above sentiments... if you book a Value resort for the night on property, Disney will transfer your luggage to your new on-site room. A good idea, methinks.

(Also recommend Buena Vista Suites should you choose to stay just off-site for the evening.)

We did that. We have a package for seven nights/eight days and got a flight for the night before so we have more time in the parks. (Flight times on the first day would have had us in too late) So, I just booked us a room for that night, since we arrive late anyway. Then the next day when our package starts, we are there already!

There are specials on Value Rooms for most of August. Today is the last day to book that rate so call and ask for it. Hopefully they'll have some available at that rate...otherwise it's not much more. I originally booked it and then saw the rate and had it applied. So I have a $15 credit on my room.

Good luck!!

I would look at a place on I-Drive. That way you can look at some of the other local attractions on your first day - perhaps look at going to Univesal Studios, Islands of Adventure or SeaWorld. There of plenty of hotel choices and a taxi to disney after your first night won't cost a lot.

We did the same thing. It was cheaper to fly down the 16th at night, and stay 1 night at Pop, than it was to fly down in the AM the 17th, and got striaght to SSR. so we're going the night before, and the bonus is, we'll be there early enough to make our 12pm Le Cellier ADR. :)

We always get there a day early and get a room somewhere, but I reserve it before we leave. I would try to stay on site & visit Down Town Disney and maybe resort hop to see what some of the other resorts are like. :) If you can't get a room with Disney, there are plenty of nice hotels close by.

Have a wonderful trip!

Thanks everyone. We tried to get a Value Resort in the first place but I think they were full. We were the very last to get a resort in Port Orleans. As far as the Sea World thing we know nothing about Florida other than Disney.. and still no one here completely knows that place in and out. I just hope a local hotel can accept us. I guess that means we somehow will need to grab some meals and stuff. Besides like I said we won't have any other transportation other than what Disney gives us. They sound like they are really booked to the max during the first two weeks of August so we'll just try to do the hotel thing. Thanks guys.

As I suggested before, why not contact Kingdom Konsultants. They are great friends of this website, and many of us use them regularly. There is no extra charge. Give them a call and let them get back to you with some options, rather than you trying to do this blind. They can also retry to get you something on property. See Marie's post above for contact information.

Our trip this past June, we planned to drive until about Gainesville and arrive at WL the next morning. Well, we made great time, and were well into Florida when we stopped for dinner. We decided to see if we could get in a value for the night and surprise the kids by getting to property that night. Not only did we get a room at ASM, we got the AP discount rate.

I would call and see if you can get a 1 night room-only. There's a decent chance that you will be able to find something.

I searched the website for availability of the value resorts on the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th. The only day that didn't have any was the 7th - is this the day you are arriving? If so, then I'd say find a place just outside of Disney to stay cheap for the night. If you are arriving on one of the other days, then stay at Disney! Just be sure to tell whomever is doing the booking that you are OK with any Value resort, and don't insist on a specific one.
