I call bs on this. There are plenty of others DEI characters we'd see if that were the case. This is just Disney not understanding that naming a movie after a cruise ship is gonna confuse consumers.

Yeah, if they had included other Wish characters, the bulk of them are non-white (and one's also disabled) so that would actually have been working towards an imaginary quota!

But seriously, isn't it common for the most recent Disney/Pixar film to get prominent representation at this festival? I remember the Fantasia/2000 topiaries in 2000, and it's not like that movie was a world-beater. (The one for the Sprite was gorgeous.) At the very least, it's the brand synergy they're always after these days, and the Blu-Ray arrives this month.

I think it's usually a popular film out front. And it's not fair comparing it to the Encanto one last year. That one was incredible. Plus the fit was perfect - there's a character who makes flowers in the film so the topiaries made sense (but to be fair I didn't see wish, so I don't know if thsts the case here too).

I never understood the craze of purchasing dated festival merch. It's virtually the same each year and I always see a good amount of inventory at the outlets.

Especially spirit jerseys... why? No offense to anyone, I just want some clarity
