Walt Disney World will open a four-day window on Sept. 12 to apply for its 2012 Moms Panel. This year, the resort will be looking for panelists who are knowledgeable about Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, Adventures by Disney, runDisney and Disney Vacation Club.

The panelists serve as online advisors, answering questions from families who are planning Disney trips. There are a list of qualifications, but perhaps the most important is the applicant’s passion for all things Disney.

In addition, applicants must:

** Be at least 18 years old.

** Have access to a computer and an Internet connection.

** Be familiar with Walt Disney World and have visited once in the last 12 months.

** Be fluent in English.

** Complete at least 25 written responses per week.

** Submit an autobiography and personal photo and/or video to be posted online.

** Be available to travel to Walt Disney World on Dec. 9 -13.

** Be willing to participate for a minimum of 24 months.

Applicants cannot be employees of The Walt Disney Co. or work in the travel or theme park industries.

Panelists who are selected will be compensated based on their contracts and product lines, according to Moms Panel website.

The application process begins at 9 a.m. ET Sept. 12 and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET Sept. 16. Check DisneyWorldMoms.com for details. The Walt Disney World Moms Panel was established in 2008, and competition for the coveted spots each year has been great.

Do you know where I can find more specific information about what is required of Momspanelists?? What's the deal with the trip? And more specifically regarding compensation...

Sorry - Just had to post this. Someone asked one of the "Mom's" how to get from the Magic Kingdom to Animal Kingdom. Here was the response:

Hi Dave! Lucky you With a Disney vacation just around the corner! Buses are the only form of Disney transportation that take you to the Animal Kingdom. From the Magic Kingdom, simply hop on a bus marked Animal Kingdom and you're off! The ride should take about half an hour.

Aren't these people supposed to be experts? There is no bus from the Magic Kingdom to Animal Kingdom. You have to take the monorail or ferry to the TTC, then take a bus to Animal Kingdom. Or, she could have recommended walking to the Contemporary and taking a bus to Animal Kingdom. Either way, once on the bus, the ride isn't anywhere close to 30 minutes. It's 15, with traffic.

Point is, anyone who's been denied (or gets denied) to be on the panel, don't take it too hard. All it means is that you don't brown nose well enough and don't suck up to the people picking the panel. I'd be willing to bet there are at least a dozen members on this board who have forgotten more about WDW than some of the people on the panel will ever know.

I find this kind of stuff all time when reading the moms panel. I just think they are in a hurry and are not paying enought attention. :(

I don't usually bother reading the Mom's panel.

A.I'm pretty certain I know more than 90% of the experts on that panel.

B.If I don't know it, someone here sure does.

I agree!! I like reading the moms panel for the simple laughs I get from it.

BTW, not saying that as it's something I'm proud of. Not exactly an accomplishment to brag about, knowing WDW inside out. I'd much rather know the ins and outs of the stock market.:lookaroun

I think I put in for the Mom's Panel like twice maybe??? Both times my guys said, "Who cares what they think! We think you're the best Mickey-Mom ever!" Okay. Don't need to put in for the panel anymore.

The few times I looked at their responses to questions I found the read to be pretty funny, too. IMO, they often sound like standardized -Disney- responses. Like the MK to AK response that started with, "Lucky you with a Disney vacation right around the corner..." It sounds like something you'd hear on one of the recordings on the bus or something in that very animated man's voice. Ya know the voice I'm talkin' about?

Definitely have better resources for info here!

Gee, Disney wouldn't like me much as a Mom's panelist. Someone would ask me a question and I'd answer, "You really should go to WDWMagic and do some searching. The info you find there is by-far more thorough and honest than what you'll find on DisneyWorld.com."

The stock market isn't nearly as fun as Disney, tho. Hangin' with the Mouse is a much happier place!

 too funny!! I have noticed over the past couple of years the answers have gotten more "CANNED" and round about. The first year they seemed more open and honest and less directed. That is just Disney making it theirs i guess.

I applied twice even though I'm a guy. I obviously didn't do enough research into it. When asked why I was applying, both times I said "I could use some extra money."

Oops.

There was a Dad on the panel a couple years back or something. I haven't looked in so long! Oh yeah! The main reason I put in was for the free trip but I never would've said that. LOL! Definitely ballsy to come right out with it. Why not be honest from the start?

This is the second time for me. I applied for the runDisney position. I thought of this last year, when I applied for the first time. In 2008, I thought about it, but by the time I decided, the application process was closed.

 I applied (first-timer) -- they had a trick question but being the fox I am, I sniffed it out no problem ... lol.

I think I know the question you're talking about! I knew I answered it right, but I was like agonizing that maybe I was wrong! Good Luck to all who applied!

There was a different trick question last year.

And I think there are usually one or two Dads on the Moms Panel. Someone needs to be able to answer the questions about sports, alcohol and arcades.

Realistically, the Moms Panel is part of their marketing efforts so they don't just care about how well informed you are. Personality (positive attitude) matters. Physical appearance even matters - if you make it to the 2nd round, they ask for a photo.
