So I'm sitting here getting ready to go to Game 1 of the NLDS here in Philly (thanks for the 2:37 game time, Bud Selig...:brick:) I figured I'd start up another thread for our predictions of the 2009 MLB playoffs! What are your picks?

Dvision Series
Phils vs Rox- Have to go with my Phils! Apparently Colorado doesn't do so well against lefty's and we've got 3 to start.

Cards vs Dodgers- StL

Yankees vs Twins- As much as I hate to say it, Yanks. BTW, that playoff game last night was some fun baseball to watch...

Angels vs Red Sox- No idea....Sox?

Championship Series
Phils over Cards
Yanks over Sox

World Series
Of course I'm going to go with the Phils over the Yanks! It would be a dream to have another parade down Broad Street! This one's for Harry!

As far as this 2:37 start here in Philly, people are pretty unhappy. Lucky for me, I have a schedule where I don't need to worry about taking the day off but thousands of people have had to give up their tickets or are having a hard time selling them. I understand why some teams get prime time (Yankees anyone?), the east coast/west coast time differences, that its all about $$, but why do the series have to start on the same day? I know for most people, a Phils vs Colorado series probably seems like a snoozer but I think the Phils have a big cross country following. It was amazing this year to see them travel to other cities, Yankee stadium included, and have half the stadium be in red. Anyway, just wanted to get that off my chest

Looking forward to some October baseball!! Who's with me?? :sohappy:

At least young kids can watch most of the afternoon games, after school. The 9:45 start times prevent that in the Eastern time zone. MLB is grabbing all the TV money they can get now, but at the expense of building the next generation of fans with the late starting times in teh playoffs and espececailyl in the World Series.

I don't mind the early start time today, though I'll miss most of the game. For years fans have complained about the midweek late start times, now we get them and people complain. Well, only the people it affects. I've heard Selig mention many times in the past he'd push for a World Series game played on a Saturday afternoon. I would love to see it, but I don't think it will happen till the next TV contract comes up.

As far as predictions:

NLCS
Phils-Cards

ALCS
Angels-Yanks

WS
Phils-Yanks

Boy, would I love to see the Phils go up against the Yankees and win in the new Yankee Stadium in 7 games.

indeed they need to get this done for HK.

Any phils fans glad to not have to hear Wheels, Sarge, and TM today on tv?

I can do without Wheels and T-Mac but I LOVE Sarge! Watching the games in silence would be better than anyone on TBS...

I'm still trying to come to terms with the Tigers playoff tickets that now I will not have the pleasure of using. :(

Wow, that had to be gut-wrenching to watch that game. I was biting my nails and I had nothing invested in it.

Sarge is nothing more than a blubbering idiot.

But I digress. 1-0 and no need to use the bull pen. Can't be anything better than that.

I was rooting for the Tigs. Not sure it would have made much of a difference with the Pinstripes waiting, though.

well true buti was hoping brandon and the boy culd have pulled it out!.. granderson needs to learn when a line drive is hit not togo half way to first:brick: but porcello pitched a heck to just to come up short!..

but i think the twinks are 1 and done series.. i would like to see new york lose.. but i dont like the twinkies rigfht now so.

It would be quite interesting to see the Dodgers and Yankees considering the circumstances.

As far as the Phillies, having no closer can be tough in the post season.

I hope the Sox do not play the Yankees. I don't think my nerves could handle that right now.

Go Yankees!!!!!!:sohappy:

While I generally prefer not to see the Yankees get that far :lookaroun, I would like to see that series. The two biggest markets in the country, and the two teams with the most league pennants (and World Series matchups) between them.

An all-LA series would be fun too, since we saw the all-NY series in 2000. I really don't see anybody beating the Yankees, though.

I like Sarge, he's definitely grown on me. To digress even further...

The one guy that I have a problem with is Larry Anderson. I like him, but too often he steps on the play by play call. Something big happens and you can hear him yelping and commenting in the background. I wish someone would tell him to stay quiet until the call has been made.

The best example of a guy doing it right was Wheeler on the final out of the clincher last year. When Harry died the video of him calling the last out was played everywhere and people criticized Wheeler for pumping his fists, dancing around and looking like a goofball, but say what you will the man knew enough to keep his mouth shut. Could you imagine if the last great call we have of Harry's had Wheels hooting and hollering over it? He'd have to resign in disgrace.
