16 Days of Free Dining Trip Report, Big Toe Nails Included!

If you are offended by sarcasm, vulgar comments, and people dressed in thongs, speedos, or sweaters when its 90 degrees then please stop here. Oh if you hate people with long toe nails...stop reading as well. I am not going to post my food pictures in this thread. I am going to create a TR for our meals because its just too much! I have WAY too many pictures of food and stuff and I'd rather post park pictures here and get everyone all hot and bothered with food in another thread of it's own. Actually the real reason is that you can only do 10 pics per post. For those wanting to read the food report the link is here http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=635197 Enjoy!

Day Number 1

Well this day started out LONG before it ever began. I woke up the previous day at 9:30am. I had a hockey game at 10:50pm that same night. Once I got home from hockey I was all wound up and COULD NOT sleep at all. Normally after I play I have a hard time sleeping...add in the fact we leave for the airport now in a few hours and I am pretty much screwed. Colleen could not sleep either. She slept like an hour an a half. That is it.

So our flight is at 9:15am on Monday (Labor Day) So we left for the airport at like 6:30am. Our airport is like 25 mins from our house and it is weird but Pittsburgh International Airport is 25 minutes outside of Pittsburgh, yeah it is not even IN Pittsburgh. Oh well. We left super early because we had NO idea what to expect at the airport being that it was Monday. Well we were the ONLY car on the road. It was very weird. We get to the airport and it was the same thing. We walked right to baggage check in, then we walked right through TSA no waits or anything. Ironically a lot of our trip was going to be like this but more on that later. We now have a bit of a while to kill at the airport.

Me I like to people watch, and wonder if I will see someone I know on my flight or anything goofy like that. Well it is time to board and I do not know anyone. We had a great flight. No bumps, or anything. Here are some pictures from the flight...

Airplane7.jpg

So we land get off the plane and with no mistakes, wrong turns or anything we get straight to the Magical Express!

MagicalExpress4.jpg

MagicalExpress5.jpg

Oh yeah and we can't forget the awesome people checking in for their flight in their PJ's...

MCO2.jpg

Yeah, pretty classy. Anyways...it is time to head to Walt F'ing Disney World.

We get to the entrance or so we thought was the entrance to Pop Century!

PopCentury1.jpg

I say we thought it was the entrance because even though it is, it seems like you have another 33 miles to drive once you turn in here. After getting through online check in very easily with no wait it was off to our room in the 90's building!

PopCentury4.jpg

We finally got to the room. First floor room about 50 yards from the pool...

So we get settled in and relax for a while, gather up everything we need and a whole 5 minutes later we are out the door and on our way to Epcot for lunch at Season's Grill. We both had the salmon and mashed potatoes. I had the strawberry shortcake, and she had the chocolate mousse cake. Although still pretty good for a CS meal Sunshine was a let down. They changed EVERYTHING. The salmon, the potatoes, the pork-jus sauce...Aside from going back for dessert this was the only time we ate here, and we planned on eating here a bunch. Oh well let's go get on the Monorail and head to MK shall we?

We get to the TTC and decide to catch the boat over. We never did it before and thought it would be fun. It was cool...got some sweet pictures on the way over...

GrandFloridian3.jpg

First thing we did was head over to Space Mountain. We had a 5 minute wait. After space we went over to Buzz and shot some targets! We then went and got Fast Passes for Peter Pan, then went on The Haunted Mansion. Outside of The Mansion was our friend Nick. We met Nick last September through Tom and Sarah. That is probably the only good thing that came out of meeting Tom, so I guess thanks? Anyways we rode Pirates, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. After BTM it was time for California Grill. First time eating here for both of us so we were pretty excited. It was a beatiful day out as you could see from the ealier pictures so we hoped we would get a nice window seat. We did.

CaliforniaGrill6.jpg

There it is. In the time it took to get off of the Monorail and get up to our table 10 mins? It poured...and did not stop. Oh well. On to our dinner...I had the Filet, and Colleen had the Sushi Platter. We both had Chocolate Creme...The meal was good but it is NOT worth the price, or 2 dining credits at all. Our server was great. I am not mad or upset we went there...but we will probably not go back again.

After we ate Colleen had a headache and I was BEAT. We both decided we should just go back and get sleep and go full stride tomorrow. When we got back to Pop I decided I'd go get us some drinks and when I got to the cafe they were doing the "Mom's Night Out Dinners" I got the fried chicken dinner. It was pretty bad. My cornbread tasted like fish and Colleen agreed. She did not want to eat at all being we JUST ate but this was the only chance I'd get at this meal so I got it anyway. She agreed to the fishy taste of it. Oh well. F a duck like I always say...

After that I walked to the nearest trash can and pitched it all and we went to sleep.

Great TR! Love the photos. Though the whole toe nail thing I agree I don't know how that guy wears regular shoes.

But it looks like you guys had a fabulous two weeks, jealous I always wish for more days one of these days I will have to convince the hubs to take some additional time off.

Loved the report. I'm sorry to hear you weren't impressed by Cali Grill. I saw in another thread you mentioned that you weren't a fan of 'Ohana either. Those are our favorite 2 restaurants on property and I'm always disappointed to hear when others don't have a good experience there.

I love how you aren't afraid to say what we are all thinking when it comes to ECVs, trashy and generally ugly people. You had me cackling!

John, your report was hysterical! I love reading what you have to say because ((like Tom said)) you say what we all think or whisper quietly to our spouses. Those out-there park guests are often the little jokes that stick with us the longest. It's been dang near 2 years and wall still run around exclaiming "Buuuh-Lahyam!!!". ((<--that would be "blam" in 3 drawn-out Southern syllables))

The toenail was so disgusting. Ugh! And I loved the dude with the tramp-stamp. The chick with the backwards candy trail...wow...just wow. Tracey notices odd people like this. For the most part I don't because I'm never really looking at anyone in particular. The sis-in-law and I decided years ago that these people who are not exercising the best judgment particularly with wardrobe choices share fault with their family members who allow them to leave the house that way to begin with. Ya know, if I walked out of my room or the bathroom or something looking all effed up like that and announce, "I'm ready to go!", someone in the family should say, "No you're not. Let's talk." Seriously. I wouldn't let any of my family members walk out of the house that way. I just wouldn't. Guy with the toenail? Oh no. I'd catch him before walking out the door, bring him back to the bathroom, sit him down on the edge of the tub, and break out the clippers....or a grinder....or something! Sheesh! Insanity. And I know they sell clippers in the sundries areas of the gift shops. I've seen them! There's also salons that do pedis. Yes, if a man ain't willing to do something with his own climbing claw he can sit thru a pedicure.

The headache remedy. I could sorta see how it could make you forget the headache for a little while at least. :zipit:

All in all, fab report! So frickin' fun to read. Love it. Gotta run that one by the old man.

Oh, and wouldn't ya know......I knew it was gonna go down this way.......Last Monday Tracey signed a contract for another longer-term, better paying job that puts us back in great shape for the future. I knew it would come halfway thru the previously planned trip. Dangit! I still hate that we missed meeting up with you & Colleen and Newfiefan's bunch. I think you and Tracey woulda been 2 peas in a pod with your crazy selves. :p:hammer:

Off to start checking in on the grub pics!

And thanks for capturing those cabbage requests.

I love your final comments on the DP. We almost didn't get the plan when we went because of all the comments around it.

Then it was free so of course we went with it. We were there for 10 days and had exceptional service at all 10 locations. I felt the service was better than we get at home.

Even when we ate at the castle and the server explained that the tip was included, we left a great tip because they went above and beyond ( they let us have the same table we got engaged at the year before).

The rest of your report was entertaining as well. I am glad I am not the only one that takes pictures of other guests. I find them as fun as some of the "real" attractions.

I wish you could give out "Leave" Card to idiots you see. No joke next year I might make up a bunch of cards to hand out to people, and hang on their doors at the hotels for doing rude stuff, or just being ugly in general. Haha what would you think if a stranger walked up to you in MK and handed you a small envelope and walked away. You'd be so excited to get it and open it and then it says inside "You're ugly, please go home"?

Wow I am gonna start working on them now.

You might want to rethink this plan with regard to the "ugly" aspect of the cards, chief. That is, unless you plan on leaving right away after having to give the first card to yourself.

John, I really want to see you naked. I know this may be a shock to most of you all but I really really have an obsession with him. When I look at his pictures with Colleen I immediately photoshop me into them holding pictures of my kitty cats. I know it is all false hopes but a girl can dream, can't he?

Wow dude.

I went thru and showed the old man the highlights of your TR this evening. He laughed. His thoughts on the pic of dude w/a tramp stamp and hairy-happy-trail chick: Maybe she was the husband and he was the wife?:lookaroun:ROFLOL: I'll leave it at that. This is a PG-rated site so can't repeat the rest of what he said. Like I said, you'd be 2 peas in a pod. The Japanese headache remedy...he died laughing. Scary toenail, too. He went into no less than 3 stories of whacked out people he remembers and a laugh at how I never seem to notice any of them. LOL!

You know I have the patience of a gnat on crack. Sept. 2011 could kill me. Naw, I was thinking I'd try to do the Princess Half at the end of February but the sick room rate hikes factored with the crowd calendar projections made me think going before the end of this year would make me happier. Currently we have free dining @ POFQ reserved Nov. 12-15 then Beach Club w/AP rate reserved Nov. 15-21. I'm seriously thinking I might shift that BC part back to POFQ & just stick w/the free dining. It'd save a load of $$. I'm thinking early Sept. 2011 might be next, tho, considering that's when Disney does 1 of their homeschool days events (really cool stuff). I won't lie, the heat really intimidates me. I've lived in the South my whole life. If there's one thing I've learned it's when the temps are above 85-ish I should not go outside. Unless it's to the car from the house or from the car to the house. I know, wuss thru-n-thru.

Yeah I hate the heat as well. HATE the heat. It actually effects my mood. However, I just deal with it as best I can. If you can walk onto Space Mountain like 12 times but have to deal with 96 degree heat...you'll bear that heat every time to do that.

Glad he enjoyed as well. Maybe you two can get matching Tramp Stamps.

You kid but we sorta kinda already have. :lookaroun  Like 6 or 7 years ago I designed the big ol' tramp stamp that I sport (seriously, it's huge). When we went to our tat guy in the French Quarter in New Orleans (he was a former detective but quit to tattoo...made more money with the ink...sad) to have my lower back annihilated the hubby had the same piece scaled down & inked on his upper arm. We match. My girlfriends used to all ooh and aaah over how cute it was but I always told 'em it wasn't really. He's just not creative or original.:lol: Not that having a tramp stamp makes meeeeee sooooo cool or original.
