“Something major” coming to DHS???

Any updates on whether or not Villains land could be coming to animation courtyard?
None. It was just weak blue-sky pitching on Disney's part. Since then, nothing from Disney. No insider has a substantial update as to them committing to this at either MK or DHS. Don't expect any news until D23. And even then, if this is a "phase 2" thing, they'll probably not publicly commit to it.

It's big, and the number is safe. They haven't pulled back funding.

Somewhere, a group of execs are pacing around a conference room table... dropping beans on project printouts.

There are only so many beans.
DisneylandForward is probably to blame for the shifts in plans. That's going to be really expensive.

17B was for capacity expansion for WDW. There is another pool that is for operations improvements, maintenance, etc.
What exactly is "Capacity Expansion" though? more parking spaces and wider walkways? we know it can mean adding more attractions, but that seems like it is going to be the last possible way they will spend money... wider walkways, more Meet & Greets, more water play areas, more shops... I just have a feeling they will call everything "capacity Expansion"... including maintenance... Hate to be so cynical, but the state of EPCOT and DHS up until this recent "too little too late" attempt at a fix has made me feel this way...

It won’t impact WDW’s share. But the money only goes so far when you also have aging attractions that will need major refurbishments. For example, we haven’t heard about Epcot additions yet there will be work at Epcot.

I’m sure DHS will see work, too. The question is: how much?

I don't think those would be capacity expansions unless there are major additions that could draw more people.

Anyway, I thought it useful to quote the discussion that spawned this thread:
There is allegedly something major that has been greenlit and funded. Not the MK or AK projects either.

Finally revisiting DHS?

If accurate, yeah.

I don't think it's a show, it was described as something major. I would assume a new ride. Anything more than that, I have no knowledge of. Don't even know the IP.

12B for capacity expansion and 5B for maintenance. Approximately.

And those are still very big numbers. We’re talking a park and half worth of stuff over a decade and all of their ancillary pet resort projects. I’m expecting a pace that’s about 50% more for WDW than what we got from 2013-2023. Which was about ‘4 lands’ worth of stuff’ and a lot of money fed into needed improvements.

We’ve heard of maybe half of it, but we’re also talking about things running out to 2033 that aren’t even remotely planned yet. How it’s ultimately perceived likely comes down to hopefully less replacements this investment cycle.
