Haven't read the thread - just read the "article" about these on the blog. Don't these seem very expensive for something that's part of the shows, and can't really be used outside the parks (that is, those white ears would be pretty unattractive). Or do they have some kind of "demo" mode, so they don't have to be receiving signals from anything? They ought to have a mode where they pickup soundwaves and flash/change colors along with it, then you could wear them, play music, and the ears would flash/change colors. Maybe they did include these things?
Anyway, $25 seems pretty steep for something that's supposed to enhance the show for others, not the wearer. Just my immediate thoughts. I'm sure others have said the same things already.

We got our ears free at DLR through 1 of the passholder events for WoC. When they did F!, they had the ears at a discount, but not for free.

I think if you can get the whole audience wearing them, it adds so much to the shows. However, the ears are very heavy and do not sit right on the head. When I wear ears, I tend to wear them further back on my head not dead center. That cannot be done with these ears. Dead center and even then, they might slide around or fall off if you turn your head. Even clips and bobby pins did not help. :(

The concept is great, I think the execution is poor.

That being said, my ears will come with me to WDW when we go next year!

In that video it shows that the ears do things in designated areas in cars land.. hmm i guess outside the shows they can have an ear color for each 'Land' like when you enter tomorrowland they change blue, adventureland green, fantasyland, pink??

Then again I have 0 knowledge of this technology and don't know if thats even possible????

It is possible, as you said the ears can interact with more than just shows. At DCA the glow ears also interact with attractions and restaurants in Cars Land. If you're at Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, one of the ears lights up to mimic Mater's one headlight. At Luigi's Flying Tires, the ears light up red, green, and white. If you're near the Cozy Cones, they will light up Orange -- and at Flo's V8 Cafe, they sync up with the background music.

you can see them in action here:

As someone pointed out in an earlier post, the normal Mickey ear hats are $15.00 and another $3.00 to get you name on it, so $25 isn't that far off. The hats do flash colors when they are not part of the show.

UGH! :hungover: Reminds me of the several "100 Years of Magic" pins that I bought back in my pixie dust snorting days, the ones that "light up" at certain attractions and shows- and were useless just a few months later. No thanks. :grumpy:

I had one of those. It would light up in certain dark rides and bother me. I remember it went crazy during Fantasmic too.

We had those too...my mom would bring it and wear the darn thing (it was so massively huge too..it pulled down half your shirt, lol). I want to say that, in some places, it did still light up for several years after, surprisingly!

Just a heads up, From now until next Tuesday, if you watch Fantasmic, try and stay towards the back convention space, you might get a preview ;)

How many people are wearing these on a given day in California? I thought early on many people were wearing them but not that many people recently.
