Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Dude does that on all of his posts and also updates when movies do poorly. I think you are getting snarky over nothing.

I wonder how in depth the villains stuff will go. Is it going to be mostly top level "design philosophy" stuff, or will we get more concrete plans/attractions, etc.

I guess I'm having a hard time pinpointing what your actual prediction is. As elsewhere you have said: Which, to me, implies you think it pretty much all shuts down completely. I suppose it depends on what you mean by "niche" market.

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Went into and read that Variety article, not sure it should be given an extreme amount of weight. It is a somewhat ambiguous question and even within the article it mentions that some of those execs believe it could adapt and survive in some form, which is what I personally think will happen. It...

Fair enough and you make good points. For me it is the third reason (movies as a social outing) that leads me to think it’ll exist in some form for a while. For a lot of people in a lot of places it is one of the few really enjoyable indoor outings. But you are right even that can change for...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

I think some of what you say is true, however I think it more likely theatrical pivots rather than goes away. Of course if it’s 50 years from now it could be gone, but that’s not really much of a prediction. Literally anything could feasibly happen in that amount of time. If I was a betting...

In my area I've noticed the huge theaters are often way below capacity, but there is a much smaller Cinemark with reclining chairs and good food that is almost always filled.

DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

I’ve often wondered why Jurassic Park seems to have a monopoly on live action dinosaurs as a franchise. There is just nothing else in the conversation. Especially since after the first one they are all fairly mediocre films. Surely someone else could capture that dinosaur magic? I think...

Next year has the potential to be an all-time year for me personally. Two movies centered on two of my top favorite comic book characters (Spider and Doom), a Star Wars movie, and the Odyssey being done by my favorite director. That’s on top of Dune, and Supergirl.

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Oh, I'm certainly not saying this being underwhelming at the box office is a good thing. But I put that more on the film quality itself leading to a more mediocre WOM, not the IP. That was all my post was getting at. I think the movie nailed the characters of the FF, which means a potential...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Sure, though I personally really enjoyed the film I can acknowledge it did not live up to even my own expectations going into it. The third act let me down, and it should have been a big hype builder for the next films. That being said, we've got a Spider-Man film and then two Avengers films...

I was just giving a response saying that I disagree it has to do primarily with the IP itself and giving some reasons. Not sure how that is "lecturing."

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

To be completely honest, where HM is now it has always been hard for me to appreciate it. You can't see it very well at all, and the only thing I really notice is the massive pile up of lines extending out and crowding Liberty Square.

The previous FF movies were also just terrible. So it is hard to use them as reliable benchmarks for how an audience would react to a good FF film. You are certainly very doom and gloom on this. I think the general consensus is that the FF was somewhere between "fine" and "good," it will do...

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

Potential Spoilers: I would of had one full fight with one of their smaller villains (like Wizard, Red Ghost, or Diablo) after that opening montage. I envision it as they come out after that TV show they were in, their alarm goes off, and they go and fight someone and showoff their powers and...

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

I could see that. I think I just felt the opening was pretty good introducing the world and characters, and then I think the entire space sequence is the best part of the movie. I think a little more action might have helped?

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

Oh yes - I'm a big Fantastic Four fan. I have no doubt that elevates the film for me because I do think they nailed the characters. I totally get this film just feeling middle-of-the-road for most people. BUT I think the film needed a few things to move it from that 7/10-8/10 range to a 9/10...

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

I’m higher on it than y’all seemed to be but I get the criticisms. I’m the opposite though- I think the first half was near perfect and the third act it plummets. SPOILER Sue is pretty powerful in the comics. I think the idea is she couldn’t beat Galactus but could push him back just enough...
