My "Hollywood Studios" to "Hollywood Adventure" Transformation

Hey everyone! New to this subforum so let me know if I'm doing this wrong. This is my take on a "transformation" of Disney's Hollywood Studios. It is an attempt at something at least "somewhat" realistic based off of current plans but obviously with some exaggeration I'm sure. Please note that while I tried to look at Google Earth to see areas that are at least feasible, but there could obviously be some minor errors. Locations are therefore just approximations. Anyway, just did this for fun. Let me know what you think!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios -> Disney’s Hollywood Adventure

1. Trying to balance some between what is (somewhat) realistic with my own ideas if management was to truly invest in “transforming” the park.
2. Goal 1: Increase capacity to a true “second gate” park with 10-12 “major” attractions. (D-E) along with minor attractions and shows.
3. Goal 2: An elegant, cohesive, theming.
4. Goal 3: Distinctive sections/attractions that set DHA apart. Namely:
   1. Classic Tower of Terror (Icon)
   2. Unique Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge themed to Original Trilogy
   3. Superhero Bay
5. Complete the transformation from a park about the making of the movies to about "entering" the movies.

Work to be done in three phases each focused on different goals and three means. Phase 1 focus: Increase capacity. Means: Monsters, Muppets, and Toy Story Expansion. Phase 2 focus: Coherent Theming. Means: Hub Redesign, Star Wars Expansion, and Zootopia. Phase 3 Focus: Distinctive Section. Means: Superhero Bay.

Phase 1: Monstropolis, Muppets, and Toy Story (Capacity)

1. Monstropolis

• Monstropolis includes a quick service, table service, Door Coaster, and New version of the Laugh Floor show.

1. Muppets in Sunset Blvd (RnRC Retheme, Muppet Vision 3D)

• “Muppet Courtyard” will note be an official land, but just a section of Sunset Boulevard. It will include a retheme of RnRC, smaller and updated Muppet Vision, and a designed “courtyard” with the Ms. Piggy fountain in between.
• Beauty and the Beast would also change to a new Tangled muscical

1. Toy Story Land Expansion

• Small expansion of TSL to add capacity (and shade!). Two new rides from TSPL, Rex’s Racers and Toy Soldier Parachute Drop. Might optionally add a playground “underneath” Slinky.

Phase 2: Zootopia, Hub, Star Wars (Theming and Distinction)

1. Zootopia- Animation Courtyard, Connecting TSL, Sunset, and Hub.

• Land Would be angled to where the right path connects with Sunset Blvd, and left with Toy Story Land and also branching down to the old AC.
• Land Would mostly match Shanghai’s with these Adjustments:

1. Zootopia: Hot Pursuit would be replaced with a smaller “D-ticket” level dark ride using Hide and Go seat Technology.
2. Jumbeaux's Cafe area would be replaced with a C-Ticket Flat Ride. Uses Luigi’s Rollickin Roadsters technology. Nick’s Wild Ride.
3. Would keep everything else, including the Zootopia Comes Alive show.

5. Hub Redesign (inspired by Disney Adventure World)

• Hollywood Blvd and Grauman’s Theater would remain mostly as is, some added structure to redirect paths to Echo Lake, and some added trees and lighting to match the aesthetic above.
• The “Disney Theater” Gives an idea to the new facades for all of the other theaters in this area- Frozen (and redirected to enter off of the hub), Mermaid, and Disney Junior.
• The Restaurant Concept art gives the idea for the retheming of Commissary Lane area. Hanging gardens above block the view of the “big blocks” and ABC Commissary gets an elegant Hollywood theming to it with gorgeous lights at night.
• MMRR remains, Mermaid Show remains, New show (my suggestion- "Great Movie Show" honoring Great Movie Ride, in Frozen theater, new Bluey Show in Disney Junior.

6. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Expansion

• Two aspects: Retheme "Rise of the Resistance" to "Rise of the Rebellion", and themed to the “Bothan Spies” stealing the Death Star plans in Episode 6. Encounter with Vader.
• New Ride: Lost Jedi Temple boat ride with Jedi-Ghosts as your “guide.” This ride will have no height requirement.
• Jedi Training Academy will move here.

Phase 3: Superhero Bay (All Goals in One)
7. Superhero Bay

(inspiration only, not as large)

• This very large area surrounding a water feature is inspired by the work at Disney Adventure World. Though the “Bay” is smaller, the design of having mini “Lands” surrounding it remain. In place of Lion King, San Fransokyo. In place of Frozen, Incredibles. And on the opposite end, the headliner attraction at the Sanctum Sanctorum. The Bay will also host a superhero themed nighttime spectacular.

1. Big Hero 6: San Fransokyo Institute of Technology (SFIT)

• The Big Hero 6 area will be themed to San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. The three buildings pictured above are in order 1) Main campus building which houses the “dining hall,” (quickservice) 2) Exposition Hall, which houses the Dark Ride “Hiro’s Journey,” and 3) The Robotics Lab, which houses Tadashi’s Tech Lab.
• The land will have elegant theming both up onto the Bay, but also repurposing Echo Lake and the connecting “stream” to make the gentle water features of the film’s location.
• Tadashi’s Tech Lab will be a reskin of Stark’s Flight Lab in DCA.
• Hiro’s Journey will be a traditional dark ride following the story of Hiro using the same basic ride system as Figment. Animatronic focused.

1. Incredi-Island!
   

• “Incredi-Island” will be themed to Syndrome’s island from the film. While the structure at DisneySea gives the idea, here it will mostly be facade, with only the base of it “housing” anything. The top will occasionally have smoke effects, but does not house an attraction.
• Main Attraction is a retheme of Star Tours and will have all the Incredibles heroes battling Syndrome on the island with your help!
• There will also be a Volcano table service restaurant.

1. Dr. Strange: Multiverse Madness!

• The last area will have a NYC backdrop facade with the Sanctum Sanctorum constructed in front. It will house the queue for the area's headlining attraction: Dr Strange: Multiverse Madness.
• This is a major and thrilling story coaster with inversions, high speed, and unique technology. Combining the best of Cosmic Rewind, Spiderman, and a thrilling coaster track. You will journey through different dimensions and universes with Dr Strange as a spell goes wrong and Baron Mordo Strikes.

WOW!!!

Great job man! I love the ideas you came up with for the park. I think the Star Wars and New York additions are my favorites. I really miss the New York section, I think they could have reused it's theming for what they were going to do. The current Muppets section fits way better with New York than Los Angeles.

Thank you!! Yeah, the Star Wars Ride is something I really wish they would do. For Star Wars fans, it gives a more “Jedi” focused attraction and touches on those themes. For average guests it gives a family friendly Star Wars ride and gives Hollywood studios a much needed boat ride.

I definetley agree that a Jedi dark ride should've been included in Star Wars land. I think something like a Jedi/Sith animatronic show would be neat to see at Star Wars. Zootopia is a cool addition to make, but I would've personally had Zootopia exit out of where the Sunset BLVD. quick service restaurant is and build a Muppets dark ride to the left of Rock n Roller Coaster. I also like the idea of a Superhero bay, it seems really interesting to explore. Upgrading the amount of rides at Toy Story land is a must, the three current rides take up way more space than they should.
