Given the huge dropoff, I'd speculate that it is impacting their reporting of deaths to some extent. I'm (unfortunately) anticipating a surge of deaths some time this week as a result of this rather than it dropping lower.

Spoiler alert: they do. Including the probable deaths from their dashboard, their death rate is 10.6%, even factoring out probables, it’s still 8.51%. By comparison, Florida is at 1.45% and the US as a whole is at 3.33%. Why try to make an argument that’s so easily disproven?

This just in: the ability of spit droplets to permeate a face mask is determined by the location the mask is used in. How could the scientists not have thought of that?!? Oh wait, because it’s an insane assertion. The efficacy of masks has been established. Higher concentrations of the virus...

https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/27/health/florida-covid-children-hospitalizations/index.html Pediatric cases and hospitalizations in Florida are increasing. About 8,000 new cases and about 60 new hospitalizations in the past 8 days.

You also have to worry about the families of the children though. Some could live with older relatives that are more susceptible. The main thing I see as bringing into question the validity of those studies is the smaller sample size (according to the CDC they make up ~2% of cases, so around...

Also, Miami-Dade is reporting a 28% positivity rate for the past 24 hours and has been above the 18% mark for 14 days https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/10/health/us-coronavirus-friday/index.html

You're in a much better position to do so though. The US had 50,940 cases reported yesterday, the UK had 352, so for there, it makes a bit more sense to push for schools to open. Accounting for population differences, the US rate is about 29 times that of the UK right now though, so we should...

Not only that, the "later on" was literally 20 seconds later. I live in NJ, I've been following the press conferences (didn't see the one from today). They always post the slides as it is happening. Here's the actual clip of him announcing it:

Actually, there are approximately 5. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm. Also important to note, these are all for the entire year. The first COVID-19 death in the US was mid-February, COVID is the #6 yearly cause of death (ahead of Alzheimer's) in just 5 months. Additionally, of the...

You're not even trying at this point. You selectively clipped part of their report. The bullet point immediately before that is this: Plus, this is all without mentioning that this report was released in mid-March when there was under 2,000 confirmed cases in the US. Something, something, bad...

Yea, and dams probably operate at around 90% capacity too, but if it starts hitting greater than 100% capacities, it’s still a problem. Just because hospitals normally operate at high percentages (from what I can find the hourly actually varies between >50% and <90%), doesn’t mean that this...

It always has been. We’re a country that whole-heartedly embraced/embraces the concept of rugged individualism without any regard for how it could impact our society.

Yea, and the first story you referenced was already rewritten from a violent fairy tale. Applying your logic evenly, I guess Disney should've included Cinderella's step-sisters chopping off their feet and having their eyes pecked out. What? That's not kid-friendly? But shouldn't we be making it...

I mean, should you be angry that your family was potentially taken advantage of by unfair practices? That's up to you whether you want to be angry or not about. And yes, I'm sure you did have thousands of white sharecroppers as about 2/3 of them were white. However, if we look at the peak of...

This comment is so tone deaf it hurts. You're ignoring the reality that sharecropping was by-and-large an unfair practice that was designed to benefit plantation owners. Black Codes were used to greatly restrict the economic options for freed slaves. But sure, keep believing Uncle Remus was just...
