I've gone several times. The member meeting repeats much of the same information as the board meeting, and the board meeting is not member-focused. I'll be at this year's meeting as well.

You can only use the points you own at a particular resort to book at the 11-mo window. You can certainly book SSR at 11 months and then cancel it if you find a reservation elsewhere. You aren't locked in.
