POLL: When are you planning to return to Walt Disney World?

I wouldn’t mind going back in March or May of next year, assuming COVID numbers are massively down/a vaccine is available and All-Stars is open (or other hotels have serious price cuts). I’m hoping to get back during what I assume to be a slow period.

Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

They probably should stop taking reservations for 1-3 months out to be safe.

Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

Why announce a date when it’s likely to get moved as well? They could throw ‘August 15th’ out there and everyone would start book and then woops, things are just as bad and now it’s October 7th. I know it’s hard but assume things are going to be cancelled for awhile until suddenly they aren’t...

Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

The curve being flattened is because people wear masks, social distance, work from home, etc. Not requiring them because the curve is flat is like building houses with asbestos again because everyone who got asbestos poisoning before is out of the hospital. Until we get contact tracing and...

Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

If it’s not feasible to wear masks outdoors in the summer heat then maybe the parks shouldn’t reopen until Fall. Personally I think Disney is 100% in the right to be cautious and open later than everyone else. If they can take the $$$ loss there’s no reason to rush it (not that losing money is...

    WDW Trip Qualifications

Wouldn’t they have to? If capacity is deemed safe at, say, 5,000, and they reach it at noon, they’re can’t let 1,000 more on site guests in. They already deemed that number unsafe. The alternative is they only sell x amount of tickets per day to people not on site so it’s never an issue. I’d...

    WDW Reopening Estimates

I think it would be silly to give a firm date, especially if it'd over two weeks away. They should give a hopeful reopening period, which would give them flexibility if the state reopenings see huge spikes. Ideally it'd be "We're hoping for July but we want to make sure all the applicable...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Issue with touching is the employees still need to handle things, unless the customers are going to behave vastly out of character and only pick up or touch what they want. Shanghai addressed it in their welcome back ad, but I don’t think I saw WDW do the same.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

WoD seems so big that unless they’re doing curbside only somehow, it neither seems safe to let people in the touch everything or monetarily smart to have the requisite number of staff to deal with it. Smaller shops I understand, since it’d be easier to keep track of everyone.

Name one Disney attraction you miss so much it hurts

Illuminations. Which is sort of lucky since I’d been so appalled by its removal I refused to book a trip this year to see Star Wars Land. Had it kept going I’d be upset about having to cancel my trip.

    Upcoming trip survey

If Disney doesn't enforce a mask policy, I'm not visiting until there's a vaccine. Enforced mask policy and it's safe to travel again (in other words, infections are significantly declining)? I'm all in. Honestly, that matters to me more than what's open insofar as me wanting to visit again.

    Magic Kingdom 50th Anniversary Plans

I don't think we'll be 100% back to normal in 2021 unless we get a vaccine this year. I think they'd start doing plussing once things normalize as an incentive to return, not necessarily tied to the 50th anymore. For all we know some rides might be closed until 2021 anyways (if they reopen this...

What's Still On and What's Now Off

I’d imagine they’d try to have at least Mexico and Norway open (maybe China, Canada, UK, and France too due to the new films). Assuming Epcot opens with the rest of the park and those rides/films are safe to operate during the pandemic. Those two are what were open early at Epcot in the Before...

What to Watch Going Into the Earnings Report

I'm curious what you mean by this but I totally understand if you don't want to answer it, since I assume (possibly incorrectly) it at least partially involves the thorny issue of Lucas' original ST treatment and/or the old EU.

News Disney to heavily reduce Capital Expenditures in the parks throughout 2020 during COVID-19 crisis

Mario is likely more beloved overall than Harry Potter (I'm assuming you are referring to Harry Potter) but Harry Potter is a very... how do I put this... 'personal' property. People want to go to Hogwarts and meet the characters and explore Hogsmeade and be a wizard and get lost in that world...

Former VP Details Original Star Wars Land Plans

Would Tatoinne have had sand? TROS diminished my love of the sequel trilogy but basing the land on the movies being put out seems so obvious I still don’t understand people being shocked/upset over it. Tatoinne is iconic but lacks diversity unless we were going to get Jabba’s palace too. To be...

    What’s next for Animal Kingdom?

I’m sure if it ever goes to walk on territory’s I’ll enjoy it more, same with Mermaid which is now a favorite, in part, because I can usually hop right on. I’ll defend FEA, though: the animatronics there are spectacular, some of them have long enough animations you can miss it (Anna and Olaf...

    What’s next for Animal Kingdom?

I think the problem with NRJ is there really isn't that much spectacle until the very end. There's some projections and that one plant with the frogs jumping on it, but that's it. If they added some actual AA animals around to make it feel like a genuine forest, it'd be more satisfying. I know...

What's Still On and What's Now Off

Couldn't they use the boarding pass from ROTR for all omnimover-type attractions? Let in one full cycle of guests at a time, clean the full cycle, repeat. So if there's, say, 40 Doom Buggies on Mansion, eighty people are let in, two per buggy, and as they exit all forty are then thoroughly...
