What's next for Epcot 2024 and Beyond

There is another (mutually benefitial) element to country sponsorship: staffing. Don't forget about all the "authentic" staff that is sourced from the various countries to staff the pavilions...and other places in WDW. We had a revelation about this recently when my wife noticed a French student...

Trail’s End Restaurant closing this Spring to reopen with a new concept

Wonder when they will post the Trail's End menu? It's definitely on our radar (again); we had some wonderful family meals there back in the day.

    Tron Is Looking Dirty

What baffles me is: they had this same canopy in Shanghai for over 5 years...and I don't see pictures posted of the same "dirty" marks there. Is it a different material? Do China guests not care about such things? Of course, I seem to remember the Shanghai version cycling through (lots of)...

    Disney Visa card

Do you have to "pay" to get the 2% cash back (on Disney purchases)...because I'm definitely not seeing the 2% (which is why I don't always use it at Disney). Am I missing something?

    Space 220

We ate at Space220 in early June (late lunch) and loved it! Both the salad (Caesar) and meal (Salmon). In fact, I have had some of the best salmon ever in EPCOT; I heard they raise/farm/whatever their own salmon for use in the park (it certainly seems consistent across multiple EPCOT...

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

This is troubling...and a good example of how this can go horribly bad (for Disney).

What's next for Epcot 2024 and Beyond

They just built a big restaurant next to Mission Space (that is quite good and does quite well), so I don't think they would have kept that theming if they were going to tear down M:S. Now that GotG is complete, I don't think anything is going to happen to that side of the park save "normal"...

    Shoes?!?!

I wear plain old tennis shoes, but my secret is the socks: Apolla compression socks (they were a Shark Tank company). They are several styles, but their implementation is the same: they are "keyed" to a foot (left/right) and they have been the only thing that keeps my feet from killing me after...

What's your fondest memory of WDW?

Great thread! There's so many, we moved here (just recently), but a few favorites: 1) Getting to see the "underside" (I believe it was the final scene) in the Carousel of Progress...which was partially responsible for me eventually becoming an engineer 2) Walking into EPCOT for the first time...

News Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser now available with 30 percent discount for Walt Disney World Annual Passholders

Agreed. A related question: who was responsible for the original pricing structure (obviously executed under Chapek) and will the new regime (has to be a different person under Iger) ultimately "eat crow"?

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

Forgetting about "who's right, who's wrong", after reading the governor's comments in the Orlando paper this morning, all I could think of was: I can't believe how disrespectful he is being to a company that has brought so much to central Florida.

Looking for Details on TRON Custom Action Figure

The custom Avatar figure is ~$100 (I have one), so this isn't such a bad deal. It's actually more complicated.

Looking for Details on TRON Custom Action Figure

Interesting. So now we wait for someone to actually try/challenge their "monitoring". I'm not sure how they could (speech to text) parse through every combination of words/sentences; that would take a lot of (real time) processing power.

    Ahsoka (Star Wars Disney+ Series)

Looking forward to Ahsoka; loved Andor!

Looking for Details on TRON Custom Action Figure

Appreciate the reply, but I'm really looking for a "first hand" experience. In other words, your comment: is just speculation. Still waiting for someone who has gone through the process to comment on the audio (including whether the figure has a speaker).

Looking for Details on TRON Custom Action Figure

Looking for details from someone who has created the TRON custom action figure; specifically the audio portion. What happens when you don't "repeat" the phrases they give you when recording? In other words, can you record any six phrases you want? Also, does the figure itself have a speaker to...

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

The only thing I'm sorry about...is that I gave this guy a "click". Yes, he's funny, and his video/editing skills are excellent...but how can you be so negative about this ride? He criticizes things that are so petty it makes me discount his other complaints (so he doesn't like "riding a...

Hollywood Studios vs Islands of Adventure

Both are good parks, and both have unique IPs (Star Wars and Harry Potter). However, I think it's safe to say the food is better in Disney (in general)...and that counts more for some than others (we like have a good meal in a theme park). The fact that both are successful is what makes the...

News TRON Lightcycle Run Standby Line and Lighting Lane status

I don't get the negativity. TRON is not Guardians...but they are both great rides. Tron has a unique launch and unique ride vehicle. I rode it 4x (in a row) the other day and could have gone again; if I had done that on Guardians, I probably would have passed out. Just sayin'

If Walt Disney died in 1986 instead of 1966 how do things change?

There were multiple (famous) people who died (either naturally or otherwise) in the 60's for which I think you could hypothesize bifurcated timelines (or alternate realities): Kennedy (both), Disney, and MLK. I can't think of another decade since with that sort of loss. As for "life after Walt"...
