Captain America 4

I hadn’t seen the budget on this one yet. 375?

Yes, it has a drastically steep uphill climb. If it wants to not be one of Disney’s worst performers ever it needs to clear about 350M In the BO and maybe 700 to break even (its budget won’t be as in lock step with other parts of its spend, given the former is so atypically inflated).

I’m not optimistic and I’m also not excited for this film.
Star Wars and Marvel need to pause, take a breath, and figure out what the heck is going on lol.

, my biggest concern is that the movie will feature the same writers as the Falcon and the Winter Soldier — a show I didn't care for. I also think Sam isn't as compelling as Marvel's best heroes. Don't know whether that is due to the writing or Anthony Mackie lacking the necessary charisma for a leading role in this type of film. I hope I'll be won over with this new movie.
Anthony Mackie does not lack charisma.

Anthony Mackie does not lack charisma.
He doesn’t at all, which is why it’s been so frustrating seeing the 2-dimensional character that’s been written for him in the films and series.

Sebastian Stan is possibly the hottest man alive, so I watched Falcon and Winter Soldier twice trying to like it, but both characters were just so wooden and predictable, and both actors are way better than that.

I mean, the therapy scene should have been as funny as the scenes between Mackie and Stan in Civil War, and they weren’t even close.

I agree. I think the problem, I know for me at least, is that I'm really not sold on him being Cap. I loved him as Falcon and I would have preferred to see that character grow into a top tier hero. I feel like they're short changing the character . I really hope the film is good. I'm just not overly optimistic.
I’m ok with him being Cap, my husband tells me it happened that way in the comics decades ago, but I am sorry to see Falcon sidelined. Like you, I thought the character was great and Mackie was perfect in the role.

It’s like the Captain America mantle weighs too heavily on him. Maybe it was that way in the original stories, I dunno.

I think the problem was everyone loved Evans and he has become the clear “glue” that held that avengers arc together as time has gone on. Moreso than Downey…in my opinion.

Dumping those two are the equivalent of killing Bruce Wayne…not enough left to keep going

The mistake is for producers to think a main stream casual audience is receptive to all the twists and turns of comics that are very niche in following.

The reason these films work is because they make them relatable with the character development…over the course of several films. Nolan’s Batman being the best example.

Don’t know if you can costume swap like they’re trying here and have enough for casual audience investment?

What in the hell are you talking about? I’ve watched it.

You can temper tantrum at someone else…occasionally…

Now I’ll get back to counting receipts from my local amc for Mufasa 🦁
Go back and review the posts, you’re replying to my post that was a reply to another poster who was commenting on what they should do in the movie, ie the same story they already told in FatWS.

So instead of side busting actually follow the conversation.

It wouldn’t matter if they repeated plot…

Since:
1. The streaming shows get little traffic
2. They repeat the same general plot in superhero movies all the time

Ya dig?

It would matter in this case since it’s so short removed from the show. It actually had high viewership, but let’s say you’re right, it doesn’t matter if the show got little traffic, enough saw it that it would get review bombed for that alone, no reason to help on the front.

Yeah, it was riding off the coat tails of Wandavision... F&TWS. Was disliked by all my peeps who watched it. I never made it past the second episode and never intend to watch it.
