  • Funny, I've been checking our eBay for hawaiian shirts for my hubby for our trip. I hadn't thought to look for anything else! LOL, but I will. My hubby will be so happy......

I did it! I went by the Disney Store at Town Center and asked them if they were hiring. The guy told me right now they are a bit overstaffed but that they would probably start hiring for the holidays next month. I told him my name and asked him to remember me because I would LOVE to work there. I normally do not like to do stuff like that, it makes me uncomfortable but I did it. Now we'll have to see if it worked! LOL. Plus I ended up buying a couple of shirts I couldnt' pass up!
Well, I'll keep you updated on my job search. I just took 30 min. to fill out an app online for Bank of American only to get a page that said my job skill isn't right for them. Nice.

What a great thing to do for Lindsay for your trip! I'm gonna get the kids and my hubby each a Diney gift card for Christmas. Have you seen the ones you can get online? They have a huge selection and really cool ones. That's most likely how I'll get them. Don't know if I'll get them anything more for Christmas though. I'm gonna get my hubby a Disney golf towel for Father's Day. Other than that maybe I'll do something like you're doing, it sounds sweet and fun!
I know what you mean about the kids crashing. It's great, though, they're so exhausted from a day of fun. All of us actually. Last year we had the kids take their showers at night so there weren't four of us all getting ready in the morning. That worked out great!

I don't usually toot my own horn but I think I'd do pretty well at the Disney Store!
Oh my goodness, that's a really high bill! You must be like us and run the AC continuously. We don't turn it off till it cools off. I am so ready for cooler weather. I get to enjoy the rest of the heat now that Sean's soccer has started back up again, lol.

I can imagine you are ready to get away from everything. That's something I love so much about Disney and that is I feel like I'm in another world. No complaining, no phones, no tv (well, a little while we're getting ready, lol.) no worries! I truly worry about nothing while we're away. I don't know how rested I am when we get home though, lmao!

I'll let you know if I ever hear from the Disney Store!
I'm with you - heck, even $20 is $20! I'm glad you have something to help you on your trip, I bet that takes a nice load off your mind having those two dinners paid for now! Yay!

I took all the shirst last year that we had, too! I love them. If my kids didn't have to grow then they'd have a ton! LOL.. but we get new ones each trip too so I'll take all I can next year. And hey, if I can get a job at the Disney Store we might have even more, lmao!
I called Disney the other day and had the free dining applied to our trip. It saved us almost $1300! I was very, very happy. Needless to say, my hubby was too. Now I just need to buckle down and save, save, save for the trip.

That's awesome you are getting a g.c. Are you going to use it for sourveniers, food or both?

Question - do you take Disney shirts with you to wear on your vacation?
Yeah, I've seen threads about the promotions and I'm anxiously waiting to see what's going to be offered. I've had people tell me to do the numbers to figure out what will be the best deal for us - free dining or room discount. Also, I've read about a possible buy # of days, get # of days free, so I'll see if that would apply to us. Does it seem silly that I'm so excited and just waiting for their announcement? LOL......

I'm seriously considering going to Disney for Christmas one year. I LOVE Christmas, too and to merge them would be awesome. We might have to do it when we're supposed to go for our 20th anniversary but if they go back to the old school calender we'll have to put it off for another time, so why not Christmas?
So, does this mean you'll be able to stay at POFQ now or are you going to take the free dining? That's awesome for you!

That would be great for us, too, if they're already offering the free dining for next Sept.

    Thanks for letting me know!
My son Sean loves the 50's PTC!! He's chosen it twice as his favorite to go back to! It's good comfort food, you can't beat that. Have you eaten at the Cali. Grill before? We may try it the next time we go but the menu is pretty fancy. Food Network kind of stuff, lol. But we may try it.

I know the food is crazy expensive at Disney. I just saw a thread yesterday where a hot dog (can't remember where) is $8! It's one reason we get the dining plan, lol. So we can eat at all!

Well, if you really don't mind then that would be awesome to see the brochures! But, if you forget, do not worry about it!

How many days left till you leave?
I think the dining is what takes up most of my planning time. We've done plenty of character meals, but the last time I didn't pick the place because of the characters but because of the food. My kids didn't request any character meals. They've all been very enjoyable though, well, except the Hollywood & Dine. That was noisy and chaotic! They sang every 10 minutes or so. But I did that because Sean loved the Little Einsteins show and he was just getting out of it when we went, so that's the last time we did a character meal "for" the kids. R u eating at Le Cellier? My DH definitely wants to, but we may try to get a lunch res. I have a feeling with that being signature for dinner now it will book up ultra fast.

Thanks for your offer of the brochures but I don't scrapbook (I don'r really care for it, I feel like you notice the decorating more than the actual photo) and I don't want to put you out at all.
We'll go when the kids are out for the week next Sept. I think it's the 19th-23rd? I'm making our reservations here in a few minutes so I'll be checking the CCSD website to make sure first. I am so excited!

We haven't done any dinner shows yet. I've heard the luau show is great but the food so-so. We also haven't done any signature dining either. Though we may on next years trip.

I know what you mean - I'll live vicariously through you while you are gone this year! LOL! I also know what you mean about the planning, I do so enjoy that. Looking up the menus, planning our days, and on and on. I have to keep myself from planning too much so that I'll leave myself stuff to do next year!
Thank you so much for the info! I kind of thought that might be the case but wanted to make sure. We've always just made the reservations after our tax return came in and paid off the whole thing right then and there. This time we thought we'd try to pay it off some before then. I can't begin to tell you how excited I am!

If you look for all the merchandise with the year printed on it, you can usually find the ornaments amongst the photo albums and stuff.

I know what you mean, every time we've gone on our trips there has been something new to check out whether it was a ride (Expedition Everest) or a restaurant (Yak & Yeti). Last time we saw the Hall of Presidents after the refurbishment. It was cool. Of course that also lends itself to things being closed for refurbishment! Last time it was Space Mountain! Bummer, but it will be so cool to see it after it's all done.
Well, we don't get the really expensive ornaments, though they have some truly stunning ones. We get the ones that coordinate with all the yearly stuff and I want to say they are less than $10. Not too bad.

I'm hoping to book our vacation here within the next few days but I had a question I was hoping you could answer. If I book it say tomorrow, how long to do we have to pay it off? Can we make small payments till it's completely paid off? I know the whole balance has to be paid by 45 (?) days before your trip, right? Thanks for your input. I can't tell you how excited I am!

I've thought about going someplace else but in the end I guess we'll go till the kids are older or we come into a ton of money and can go on a big vacation every year! LOL.....
Wow! Congratulations!! Very excited for you. It's nice when things go your way, isn't it?

Let's see our souveniers are, I get a Christmas ornament with the year on it, a photo album, we all get t-shirts and last year I added getting a beach towel to the list. We get other things but that's stuff I "have" to get.

I totally agree with you about the t-shirts! They are great! Sean got a great one last year that has a bunch of characters on it and the monorail going from front to back on the bottom of the tee.

We go every other year so we're like go big or go home! We decided to book our trip asap and then pay it off over time. I'm so excited, I can't wait. Hopefully that will be sooner than later!
LOL, I use to make fun of my DH because I said he had an entire wardrobe of gray t-shirts. Well, I stopped kidding him when I realized I had 10 Disney t-shirts! He's close with 8. The kids could probably have more but they grow out of them. Do you have certain items you buy on each trip?

Concerta doesn't seem too bad. Tristan's appetite is smaller and a few times he said it gave him a stomach ache but he hasn't complained about that in a while. Now we wait to see how things go in school.
Friends are a HUGE influence. My parent divorced and my friends were "good girls" and so was I. I think my parents were very lucky I had the friends that I did. Especially when I was a senior, my mom had moved away so it was just me and my dad and he went away all the time for business and yet I was home at a decent hour, didn't do drugs, no ______ but I did drink a little. And my closest friends were exactly the same way! My friends and I NEVER drank and drove, we always had a designated driver. But even when I wasn't the DD I didn't drink a lot. Still don't, LOL. As long as you are connected to her like you are I think she'll be okay.

Tristan takes Concerta. They upped his meds. over the summer because we saw no difference but after he went on the higher dose we did. It is nice to know someone who understands. It can be frustrating.
And yet another similarity! Tristan has done the exact same thing when it came to a class he didn't want to go to. There have been many, many times I've had to pick him up from school with a "stomach bug". It got very frustrating. Last year wasn't bad. We just started him on ADD meds. the last day before school got out in May. So, I'm waiting to see how he does this year academically while on the meds. The dr. explained that it's not that he can't focus on something, it's that he's focused on everything that's going on around him and that's why he has such a difficulty finishing things. Made sense since he would be doing his homework with his back to the tv but comment on something that would be on. So we'll see. I think Sean may need it too, but I'll wait until it starts really affecting him at school, right now he's doing well.

Lindsay is in 8th too, right?
We may try to visit my dad in Sept. when the kids are out, if we can work it out. If not it will be nice to have a short break. How was Lindsay's first couple of days? Tristan and Sean had good days. I was happy to find out that Tristan still has AP classes after the grades he brought home last year. Long story short, last year was a roller coaster ride with him! LOL, I was so glad when it was over. I'm hoping this year will be different. As for Sean I had to warn his teacher that he's quite the chatterbox!
LOL, both my kids have had "mysterious" illnesses that caused them to miss school or come home early. Can you really believe though that school starts tomorrow? Do you like the new calender for this year? I think it will be good for the kids to get serious, regular breaks. I know a lot of parents don't like it, especially ones with small kids. One thing I like about it is the Sept. break is exactly the time of year we always go to WDW. All the times we've gone we took the kids out of school. Now that they are older we won't be able to do that anymore so I was happy to see the new calender, at least for us.
It has been so hot lately that when I'm out it doesn't take long for my energy to be zapped. By the end of the day I'm worn out. Have you ever noticed how quickly your car heats up inside? I can go into the store for just a few minutes and by the time I come out the inside of my vehicle is like an oven! I kinda thought that maybe with the windows closed that would "trap" in some of my air conditioned air! LOL.

I learned my lesson the hard way, as I told my kids. I put the $20 in my pocket and I think I lost it when I pulled out my keys. DUH! I know better than to do that, I've lost sunglasses, lists, coupons all by putting them in my pocket. Oh well, no more. I just have the thought that maybe someone who really needed the money found it.
