I've been seeing some posts on social media from the final showing, it appears to be a packed house! HISTA got no such sendoff. I seriously doubt the next feature will either. It's a testament to people's love of either M.J. or of the old EPCOT (or both in my case) that a nearly thirty year old...
First off, LLAP! :D
Of course you're correct, I've made that same point as well. I don't have a problem with the park progressing, that's the mission of Future World. The problem is that they've totally forgotten that the point is to "edu-tain". The attractions should have evolved from their...
A little epilogue to my previous post, I was fortunate enough to get by EPCOT Center yesterday for one last viewing of Captain EO! It was awesome to see MJ on the big screen one last time! The theater was about half full, but the show still got applause at the end. It's sad to see it go...
I'm only three days older than EPCOT Center itself, and I've been going since I was a young child. I saw it in its golden years. I saw it slowly start to fall apart during the 90s, and I've seen the constant decline ever since. Each new revision being a dumbed down version of what it replaced...
I resemble that remark. :D
Right on. Unfortunately that EPCOT died in the 90s. Now we're left with a combination of rides that have been ruined by cartoons, and those that Disney hasn't yet figured out a cartoon tie-in for. They ought to just get it over with and rename the park "Magic Kingdom...
I'm sad to see it go, I doubt I'll be able to get down there before the "final mission". I for one am thankful that I got to revisit a beloved attraction from my childhood. I realize that it couldn't have gone on forever, but I was hoping for one more viewing. Maybe they will do another limited...
Good call! I just got done watching that movie, it was total off-the-rails insanity. By far my favorite non-Disney, Disney film to date! I'm still completely blown away that they filmed that in the parks and no one noticed.
A theme park that mocks the artificially sweet, superficial nature of theme parks? As a cynical and sarcastic Disney fan (to be accurate, mostly just EPCOT Center), I love seeing a sardonic counterpoint like this. I say good job sir.
Next up: An ocean-based "land park" where orca handlers keep...
While I'm glad that EO is coming back, I know that it can't last forever. It's a great tribute to EPCOT's golden era. I like the idea of having a ride-through video of the original attraction. It would be nice for the uninitiated guests to see how great a ride USED to be there. Maybe it'll whip...
I wanna say Journey Into Imagination, but I am terrified that they'll just make it worse. Every time they change a ride it's for the worse. They either ruin it outright (Imagination) or ruin it with moronic cartoons (Maelstrom, The Living Seas, etc).
Disney can't seem to do anything right with...
I'm a little late to the game, but I just wanted to say how happy I am for all the MGM/DHS fans. It's never been my park of choice, but I've enjoyed my few visits over the years.
That hat was as bad, if not worse than the hideous wand that SSE got disgraced with for so many years. The park...
"A dumbed down princess meal"
That's sort of an allegory for what all of EPCOT will eventually be if Disney continues down their current path.
Just one cheap toy commercial after another. Bereft of everything that made it so great once. They may as well just merge EPCOT with MK now and get the...
I'm pretty happy that the fans being unhappy has finally been brought to light. EPCOT Center being further tarnished with yet another cartoon is certainly a good cause for the purists to be upset about!
