I appreciate information we actually need at the start of the year. Guest speakers can be good, but they aren't what I need to start the year. This year's inservice days were the best I've had. I got a lot of good information. It also helps that I'm really happy with our new principal, reading specialist, and math coach. I've never worked with a good principal or good reading specialist, and it really makes a world of difference. Our school district use to pool with another district to higher a keynote/motivational speaker for our first couple days of in-service. I'm glad they don't do that anymore. The speakers we all quite good, but most of us in our heads were making lists of all the things we wanted to get done to start off the year. I wouldn't mind a speaker coming in mid-year, we all need a little pump up at that time.
