Unlikely. They’re at roughly 3% vaccinated. USA is at 30% with both doses.I have a question-
could we... in theory... with all of the political crap... anti vaxx... anti mask... become the next India?

Biden is thinking that by July 1st we'll have vaccinated many more people - and he's right.@GoofGoof are we getting to herd immunity by months as anti vaxxers will be forced to get vaccines as new variants will be more dangerous in the future?
What this is supposed to mean in USA? More future variants will getting worse?
is there some science behind the 50% or is that some arbitrary numberIMO I don't think July is too early because they should hit that 50% vax rate benchmark well before then.
Part 3 is coming soon where he bans the wearing of orange shirts in the state since they clash with his tan
It looks like it is based on the drop offs in Israel and UK. Hopefully 50% is enough to make a big differenceis there some science behind the 50% or is that some arbitrary number
is it what Israel has done?
just curious
And posts like this continue to make my point. This is the current biggest obstacle.

Nearly half of Republicans say they don’t want a Covid vaccine, a big public health challenge. (Published 2021)
Over half of American adults have now received at least one shot, but resistance to vaccination among Republicans remains strong, two new polls found.www.nytimes.com
If Republicans don’t want to be vilified, they should collectively make smarter decisions regarding the vaccine.
^ that worse case scenario won't be happen. Even anti vaxxers will listen that one so they will get a vaccine. @ImperfectPixie is we are getting a true herd immunity soon.Biden is thinking that by July 1st we'll have vaccinated many more people - and he's right.
Don't worry about variants - the worst case scenario is that the vaccines need to be altered and we'll need another shot. We don't want that to happen, but we can deal with it if it does.
Or, in practice, CMs could stop trying to enforce it.
Disney can pop up all kinds of rule warnings in MDE. Also, have a ton of signage at the entrances about the rules and zero tolerance. I know it won't eliminate all issues but it should help with most people.
Since it’s New Jersey...two things:NJ is reportedly opening up pretty much 100% on May 19th, with "social distancing indoors and masks still required", even though capacity limits at restaurants will not be restricted. Yeah, those two things will live in perfect harmony.
I'm still staying hunkered down unless I am with those fully immunized. I'll walk outside without a mask off my property, but still stay a decent distance from people and keep good habits.
I think the governors of NY, NJ and CT are at a point where since vaccine demand is low enough that walk-ins are now welcomed at most if not all the mega sites in the state and if even after that people are still voluntarily not getting vaccinated, there is nothing else to be done. I think the only things left are that employers may start to require it and to get the FDA to sign off on the Emergency Use Authorization and just get at least the Moderna and Pfizer ones approved. What else might they be waiting for? A larger sample?
In Israel the first major inflection point happened when they hit about 45% of the population vaccinated with 1 shot in mid-Feb timeframe and cases started a spiral downward. The cases really bottomed out around 55% of the population with 1 shot. This was total population not 16+. We are a few days away from hitting the 45% of the population with 1 shot level. No guarantee we follow the same path but let’s hope sois there some science behind the 50% or is that some arbitrary number

And that is why I said this:
And how do I know that before the vaccines are available to younger children? Because the vaccine wouldn't be approved for them unless the trials showed that the vaccine is less a risk than getting COVID.
July 1 is too early to drop restrictions for WDW when no one under 12 will have access to a vaccine..Then IMHO July 1st is just a bit too early to drop all restrictions
It's not arbitrary so much as that is when there is enough vaccine-induced immunity combined with infection-acquired immunity that acts as a firewall to drive down the reproduction rate/ hinder transmission. I'm sure that there is a better data viz simulation of this, but if you look on the second page, it shows the image of how it works, because of the distribution of immune and susceptible.is there some science behind the 50% or is that some arbitrary number

They also had a very low seroprevalence before the vaccine so we can be encouraged that in regions with high levels of previous infection 45% should make a huge difference. You are probably right and they probably will lift them.they are unlikely to do that anyway
I don't think it's right for Disney to keep putting CMs in the position of enforcing it when they will bear the brunt from people who don't like it. There are other ways of encouraging compliance like verbal narration and visual cues.and be fired immediately if that’s against the policy. It’s a “job”...not a opinion/focus group for all of ‘Merica
One side need to stop denying science and seeding doubt in the safety of the vaccines that the medical community almost universally endorses, and since that side pretty much only listens to one specific populist blowhard, he needs to do more to instill confidence and faith in a vaccine, far more than what he’s done currently.
This will cease to become a partisan issue when one side makes it less partisan.
