EPCOT Announced: Mary Poppins Attraction in UK Pavilion

Long before any Poppins ride was announced I just wanted a well done theme park greatest hits stage show based on the original. So many good songs. Thirty five/forty minutes long. It would diversify the entertainment portfolio of EPCOT.

I'd take a theater and a stage show over a meet and greet. You can meet her regardless so ... really kinda disappointed so many on here (not you George!) seem to accept the bare minimum as just fine with them. They fail to understand these parks need to continue expanding and offering more to do.

But I imagine nothing gets built with Poppins and that kinda sucks. But who knows?

And to others ... WDW got a meet and greet and a restaurant for Beauty and the Beast while Tokyo builds a gorgeous e-ticket (not to mention Rapunzel gets one and Peter Pan gets a new one). That tells you all you need to know about where the focus is at WDW, specifically the Magic Kingdom.

There isn't as much room back there as people think.

Plenty of space.. if there is a will. You could even build a building out over the road / parking space if you wanted.

I thought that Enchanted Tales attendance was vastly down compared to when it opened? Does anyone know what it's daily numbers are like? Just saying I think it would be a huge mistake to duplicate a failed attraction again with such a beloved character.

There‘s always a line for it, so disregarding when the line empties at night, attendance is the same as when it opened. A 15 minute line and a 150 minute line both have the same attendance per hour. Perhaps demand or ratings have changed, but attendance has not.

Did they not a few years ago? My memory might be getting fuzzy but I’m almost certain they did, although no idea how long for
They didn’t. There has always been two rooms. Obviously they sometimes run only one room due to maintenance, technical difficulties, custodial, staffing, etc. But as a general rule they still run both rooms. Well, they did when they were open anyway.

What I’m about to say is a rumor. It’s definitely NOT from a reliable source but sounds super plausible. Mickey Views has put out a rather excellent video about the current situation. This isn’t a lazily put together video, it’s actually dome extremely well.

According to Brayden who is FAR from an inside credible source. Let me stress that, but this seems plausible and is why I’m posting it. Maybe this is why insiders were so hesitant to talk about the carousel. The Mary Poppins ride wasn’t going to be a carousel...at one point it was but before the situation the most recent form of the project was.....

DRUM ROLL PLEASE

No this isn’t a joke indoor tea cups.

Now I’m sure our insiders may know if this is legitimate. @marni1971 or any other insider can you comment. I know it hardly matters since this project is probably cancelled. Again, not saying Mickey Views is reliable but this seems to match up with the insider reports.

Martin did specifically call it a flat ride multiple times (as opposed to saying carousel), so that sounds plausible.

I wouldn’t say most recent but it was a potential rise system, yes.

This is the best (and most plausible) video I've seen on the potential ride system:

Of course, this was all pre-COVID-19.

This video was filmed in December 2019, and I only state that the ride will be an indoor flat/spinner attraction. Then towards the end of the video I give an example of how a basic spinner attraction could be interestingly implemented, by showing Disney Patents from many years ago. But of course, I also state that IT IS NOT the ride system. Just want to put that out there.

I FULLY INTEND on doing a video CLEARLY stating that Poppins is cancelled, once we receive some sort of confirmation, and will unlist (make unavailable) the original announcement video from D23.

I feel that blogs and YouTubers who make such a BIG DEAL about a new ride, should also give EQUAL WEIGHT to the news that the project has been cancelled to help inform the public responsibly.

No it wouldn’t. That’s how you get burdened with mediocrity.

And then that mediocrity stays forever. Frozen Ever After is the first example that comes to mind. Regardless of how you feel about the Frozen movies, it's a giant property for Disney. They wanted to capitalize on it quickly, so they forced a mediocre ride into a preexisting space (where it absolutely should not be, but that's not the point here). Now everyone is stuck with it when the property probably deserves a far more impressive attraction, but Disney isn't going to spend money because they already have a ride.

If a dumb spinner was built for Mary Poppins, then that's likely it forever. There's the Mary Poppins attraction; no reason to spend money on anything more when there's other IP to leverage.
