Besides, the camera and youtube don’t film/show in the same refresh rate as the human eye. A fast spinning blade will look very differently with the naked eye versus a camera.

All speculation, but to me... it looks like scrim. I think it would make sense to have them projected onto scrim since they are "white" and the background is dark so they don't look transparent (and it would give it 3D depth). The troopers would absolutely still be squinched even without a background. You are still compensating for perspective distortion.

As for multiple viewpoints - this also would make the effect more forgiving.

If they were standard screens, I think the background would have been "designed out" a little more (like in the tv spot trailer). Maybe they tried it with standard screens originally but opted to go this route.

Again... all fun speculation! We will see.

This ride lends itself well to B-Roll, lots of great effects and visuals to shoot actors riding through the attraction. FoP had nothing to shoot for B-Roll - just people on a banshee on front of a screen, doesn't sell the ride well.

It does bode well that Disney shot the people on the actual attraction, as opposed to Tower of Terror or Coaster where the commercials were obviously shot on a soundstage and bore little resemblance to the actual experience.

There is nothing to "get" with Rise. You sit down and it goes.
