I have both and there is a difference. I have two motorbikes for my kids which are Huffy bikes with 49cc motors mounted to them.

I also have motorcycles which I would say are purpose-built to only work with an engine so they are motorcycles?

This is going to take at least 20 pages to figure out.
My brother's father in law refers to any motorcycle as only a bike and specifically calls bicycles "pedal bikes". Terms can vary anywhere you go. To me, and I believe a majority of people, motorbike = motorcycle

I always thought it was pronounced "A-LUM-IN-IM-IN-IM-IN-IM-IN-IM-EE-UM"
