No. The type of paint. It does a better job than the paint they have been using at picking up coloration of the sky. That is the problem with Soarin'. It only works there if the sky is a very particular shade of blue.

The motion of the coaster looks fantastic. It has the potential to be really dynamic if they’re able to sync up footage nicely.

So it IS going to be a themed roller coaster after all with a story during the ride and things to look at! So happy about this announcement.

AND I want to add that the cars look really cool. Love that design looks like the paint scheme on Peter's Milano ship kinda!

The paint theme actually reminds me of the ribs on the outside of the building, for some reason. Probably not the intention, but it's still kind of cool.

I believe that Disney chose to hide this building, rather than theme is so as not to take the view away from Spaceship Earth.
They had three choices, once they decided to construct this monstrosity:
Heavily theme it Guardians style.
Generically cover it with a stainless, mirrored, glass etc. modern looking façade.
Attempt to draw less attention to it.

I'm glad they didn't go with the first one.
I believe they didn't go with the second one for part of the reason they didn't go with the first - too much completion for the worse - with Spaceship Earth.
So we got the third.
I still wonder if they will attempt some plantings in front of it.

They made the choice to do something that big in the first place.

Too bad they can't excavate down in Florida, so they could have constructed some of this below ground.
In another location - say Hollywood Studios - they probably would, actually I'll say definitely would have given the ride building a Guardians theme.

They can excavate down in Florida. It’s a greater expense but it can be done. The new coaster up the road has plenty that goes down into the earth.

You don't say. A storytelling coaster where the cars can be pointed in different directions? I feel like I've heard about this before in regards to the Guardian's coaster. I wonder where I could have heard such a thing?

They walls are coated in a factory as part of their manufacturing. It’s not going to be something special. The shade is likely different and the lighting of the showbuildings also likely plays a role.

As an example, Cinderella Castle uses paint that easily picks up the coloring in projections (and when the Castle changes colors). I believe that is different from the Go Away Green paint on the outside of Haunted Mansion. Some paints are more responsive to ambient lighting than others. Soarin' does not seem particularly responsive to me. It never actually disappears as well as intended and they are noticeably trying a different strategy with GotG.

Yes, there are lots of different formulations and types of paint for different conditions. But these walls aren’t being painted in the traditional sense. It’s a process in a factory with far, far fewer options than what would be offered by a scenic painter.
