I believe that Disney chose to hide this building, rather than theme is so as not to take the view away from Spaceship Earth.
They had three choices, once they decided to construct this monstrosity:
Heavily theme it Guardians style.
Generically cover it with a stainless, mirrored, glass etc. modern looking façade.
Attempt to draw less attention to it.

I'm glad they didn't go with the first one.
I believe they didn't go with the second one for part of the reason they didn't go with the first - too much completion for the worse - with Spaceship Earth.
So we got the third.
I still wonder if they will attempt some plantings in front of it.

The real question to be answered will be whether the ride experience of this new type of rotating vekoma coaster is amazing enough to justify constructing such a tall show building in the first place.

If it truly is extraordinary then much will be forgiven.

Too bad they can't excavate down in Florida, so they could have constructed some of this below ground.
In another location - say Hollywood Studios - they probably would, actually I'll say definitely would have given the ride building a Guardians theme.

They would have to call that 20,000 Leagues Under The Guardians.

I don't want to find out what Chapek as CEO would be like. I also don't want to go through another "Well, Iger's gotta be better than Eisner..." situation. I honestly don't know what the "right" pick would be, but I still maintain that a creative/numbers combination, ala Walt/Roy and Michael/Frank, would work best. It creates balance, something that TWDC hasn't had at the top in over 20 years, and it shows.

I don't know what you all are looking at in those pictures. I see nothing but trees and blue skies behind the old UoE building. ;)

First official look at the concept for the cars, confirms the ability to point each car different ways

Neat, but on a relatively short coaster train presumably moving at a good clip, how useful is such a capability? Unless you intend for different cars to watch different show scenes to the exclusion of others (for re-ridability?) you're not going to get a lot of mileage out of independent car pointing unless this thing REALLY slows to a Mansion-like crawl for significant portions of the attraction.

Page/Plant.
Jagger/Richards.
McCartney/Lennon.
Tyler/Perry.
Roth/EVH...
Checks and balances.

So it IS going to be a themed roller coaster after all with a story during the ride and things to look at! So happy about this announcement.

AND I want to add that the cars look really cool. Love that design looks like the paint scheme on Peter's Milano ship kinda!

I agree would be good. I am taking with a small grain of salt until we hear more. I would hope that after what I assume is a huge engineering expense to make these cars rotate there will be something exciting to look at. Even if it is a spectacular star field or asteroid field it could be very effective.

if this is another sub 2 minute coaster ride I struggle to understand what scenery we would have time to see unless there is some sort of story telling we face as the train approaches the launch and then at the end while approaching unload.

Hopefully it's not that short. I'm just hoping this is going to end up being something like the Mummy but WAYYY better. From the beginning of this announcement that's what I've always been hoping. Disney is the best at dark rides.. it just makes sense for them to take the next step from slow omnimover dark rides to roller coaster dark rides.

I agree with you but EPCOT is in need for new rides for sure. Is that your real name very beautiful.

When I ride it I’ll let you know. 😜😁

Definitely resembles the Nova Corps ships...
