I agree. They hammed up Johnny Depp's character too much. Some of his performance felt forced and didn't flow. The makeup was overdone, too.

I'd take an Errol Flynn movie any day over any of the Pirates movies.
Sure, but, you love winter too... so much for your credibility! All that stuff that you mentioned is exactly why it was such a success and the outlandish comical and different approach to a pirate fascinated me. Then the rest of the movies were all forced and I could never get into them. Once was a charm, after that.. blah! I suppose the ginormous amounts of money that they made on them says that I don't know what I'm talking about, but, none of that money came from me.

I think I saw one....there was a kind of ghost ship with these creatures that looked human, but then turned skeletal and they couldn't eat or drink....I think it was because of a cursed treasure they stole? Anyway, that's the only one I've seen. I'm not much for movies like that. But I DO love the ride at Disney...it's my favorite.
That is the first one! :) I went to the movie because I loved the ride and I wanted to see how they incorporated the ride into it. It was there in many spots, but, the story line took over and all that was there were snippets of the ride. However, that said, it was enough that those of us that had been on the ride were able to relate. All the others that made the movie a success must have just liked something about it. Perhaps that young Johnny Depp. The interesting thing was he didn't look like Johnny Depp at all.

Trying to work out a mini trip like I attended in 2008 for a memorable Mousefest trip in 2008, The final Mousefest a decade later. So hard to believe it was a decade ago. Great memories of that trip with so many awesome people, memories that will never fade or be forgotten, priceless memories. Now if I can back to back trips in short order??? Send Pixie Dust. Old friends trying to reunite and rekindle old times and memories. Woot! Hoping for stars to align.

Good luck! I hope you fit your trip in.

I enjoyed the first Pirates movie a lot. I remember watching it in the theater and hearing people chuckle a few times when there were references to the attraction, you could tell who had been on the attraction and who hadn't at those points. The last movie was decent, but the ones in between the two weren't that great. Now the Haunted Mansion movie....well that just needs to be avoided.

Today is ( naturally) the "last leg" of our journey. Lumberton NC hotel to home in Brick NJ ....556 miles 😌
Traffic should be lighter through DC and Baltimore since it is Sunday, but, it is still a long haul. From my house to WDW it is 600 miles. With one or two short stops it takes me just around 10 hours (weekdays), but, Jacksonville and the greater Orlando area are the only real traffic problems and Jacksonville is not much of a hassle unless I get there at rush hour times. Have a good trip.

You got the gist of it...that’s the first one. My fave of the bunch!

The soup was awesome!! (We gave the dog a little bit, too. He loved it. Actually, Jack seems to like fish more than meat, if given the choice. But that's a moot point I suppose, as he'll attempt to abscond with any food at all on the table, that we don't guard!! :p )

It sure sounded awesome from the second you posted about it...!!!!! :hungry:
And, Hahaaa...!!!!!
Jack sounds like he’d fit in ‘round our place in a heartbeat...Belly Crazy Cakes, Ranger Danger, and the Jack Attack...the triple threat...!!!!!!! :hilarious:
