Isn't this also why certain restaurants at MK are always closed? As if the risk of running any location at a loss for a day is worse than feeding people more efficiently or giving them more options?
Yes this is essentially why. And it's not even a matter of any location having a loss for a day, because that really isn't happening...but because certain locations are profitable, but not profitable enough. Therefore, they feel they could make more money by cramming all guests into a crowded mess hall (Cosmic Ray's, for example) rather than spreading out the crowds to varied locations.
It also depends on the metrics they are looking at. Are they considering guest responses to how crowded food venues are or how satisfied they were with varied offerings? Or are they more concerned with the dollars generated per labor hour? (which is a reason we see so many carts and ODV stands...on paper, it looks like you generate a LOT of money per hour of labor).
