My daughter's school is closed today so I'm at work while she and her dad are having an adventure day together. I'm a little jealous, LOL. But tonight we'll have family game night, then tomorrow we'll dye eggs, and then Easter on Sunday.

I'm really looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend, but I also have thoughts percolating about cleaning out the garage this weekend and going to the zoo and maybe hiking and maybe the conservatory and maybe checking ToysRUs to see if the sale is greater than 10% yet..... so lets see if I don't sabotage my perfectly relaxing weekend like I usually do :banghead::banghead:

Dh took my two oldest out this morning, and I am home with the younger 2. Littlest came down and told me that they are getting along really well today so that I won't be interrupted while I clean. Isn't that thoughtful?;) I went to Toys R Us website to look for a new booster for youngest. Hers still has the 5 point harness and she wants one where she can just use a seatbelt. She is just big enough for one of those. I found one I liked but of course I have to comparison shop. I really wanted to give TRUs the business, but the same car seat at Bed Bath & Beyond was $20 less with the monthly 20% discount code. And there was free shipping. Unfortunately for TRUs, I have to think about my pocket book first.

Is there any particular planning involved with Disneyland? Like, if my friend, who hates planning, is thinking of taking her two kids to Disneyland for a day in October when they're in town for a wedding, is there anything aside from checking on Halloween Party dates she'd need to do in advance?

Disneyland does not involve as much planning as WDW. I would recommend looking through the site and getting a general idea of what they might want to do and if there is a restaurant they really want to do (like Carthay Circle, Carnation Cafe, or Cafe Orleans) make a reservation for it. Reservations are only accepted 60 days in advance. I haven't been there since Max Pass has been introduced (missed it by a day) but from what I've heard it might be a good idea. But in general I think people can show up with an idea of what they want to do and still have a great time without mega planning.

I *just* had that conversation with coworkers. Like, if there was any shot at TRU coming back from delinquency and staying open, I might shop the 10% off sale just to support the cause. But I Black Friday and Amazon Prime day shop too often to get excited about a 10% off sale. That barely covers the tax. If it was something I was already planning on buying, then I'd be happy with the 10% savings, but if I'm stocking up for Christmas or birthdays, I need at least 40%.

Speaking of food. Today I was doing my Mall Walk and had this sudden urge for a Reuben Sandwich. The only place that I have found them here is at the Cracker Barrel. I go there occasionally, but, not that often unless I start jonesing for a Reuben. So I drive 15 miles out of my way and when I get there I look at the menu and it isn't there. In a near panic, I ask the waitress why I can't find it listed. She tells me that they took it off the menu and replaced it with French Dip. As anyone knows a French Dip, although usually tasty, is not a Reuben. Grudgingly, I accepted the French Dip along with a side salad which consisted of, I'm sad to say, a small bowl of lettuce and two microscopic grape tomatoes. And the beef in the French Dip was tough as nails. Not a pleasant experience at all. And actually the worst I have ever encountered at any Cracker Barrel. Now I am not saying that CB is a place that foodies rush to on a regular basis, but, the Reubens were always very good.

Needless to say, I was not a happy camper, but, you will be happy to know that I didn't take it out on my waitress. She did know about my displeasure but I assured her that I wasn't taking it out on her. She said... it's OK, I just work here I don't run the place. For that bit of rapid, witty response, I added a couple of dollars to her tip. See, I'm not always grouchy. Well expect with the manager that I happened to run into on my way out. I also knew he wasn't responsible either and it came down from headquarters, but, I did want to make sure that he remembered to mention my displeasure to the higher ups. He said... believe me you are not the first one to complain about that item.

By way of explanation he said that it is still on the menu in the more northern areas, but, they felt that the south really wasn't into them. I reminded him to remind them that a whole lot of us northerners have migrated to the south. It doesn't mean we instantly decided we didn't like Reuben's anymore and are now addicted to biscuits, gravy and Okra.

Oh I have experienced that sadness of not getting the food you are craving, so I feel you pain. I recently had this happen at the Magic Kingdom. I really wanted a hot fudge sundae with peanut butter sauce and cookie dough ice cream. Especially the cookie dough ice cream, alas no cookie dough ice cream. I still had a sundae but it just wasn't the same.

And now also after reading your post I want both biscuits and gravy and a corned beef sandwich. I would say Ruben, but I really don't like sauerkraut. ;)

This^^^^ So many clothing companies I buy clothes from are offering 50% and more off this weekend. 10% is nothing.

Oh my goodness! Such good looking food! I really must come to the Austin area sometime and you'll have to write out a list of must eats for me! Although, Austin also known for some night creatures (bats) that I really fear so I might have to overcome that!

Hey wdwmagic friends! I've missed you guys that last couple days. It's been super hectic around here, we've both been recovering from bad colds and because of that I missed a couple days of work at the worst time---the end of the quarter. So hubs and I did have a date night Wednesday (since it was holy week he didn't have services Wednesday and he wanted to do something fun) and I was so behind in my grading I spent last night grading papers for close to 5 hours. But I am all caught up on grading and that feels good and now I can play on the internets! :) Oh and my cold is pretty much gone and I can smell again! To celebrate I opened my Jiko blend of Joffrey's coffee, and it was a treat....AMAZING!

Seems like there was some important stuff talked about...sandwich chains and Tonga toast. So I must weigh in...

Sandwich chains: Subway is okay, we actually have one in my town. I like their meatball one. I used to like Quiznos and Scholotsky's Deli but I don't think they are around any more at least not around here. A coffee shop near us has amazing sandwiches the bread and special sauce is so good. Jimmy Johns is okay and I haven't tried those other ones you mentioned.

Tonga Toast: I do like bananas but I think Tonga toast is overrated. The inside was too mushy for me. Now the locco mocco at Kona Cafe, now that's some good stuff! It's a Hawaiian thing and I loved them in Hawaii. It is rice, hamburger patty, egg and gravy. Now that's the way to go!

I didn't see the mimosa flight, I was all about the press pot Kona coffee. But mimosas would have been good too.

The loco mocco is good. When we were in Hawaii it was always served with soy sauce on the side (even for breakfast) and I really liked that. So when I asked the server at Kona Cafe for soy sauce at 7:30 am she was super surprised, she actually did a full double take look. It was actually pretty funny! So if you like things a little more savory and salty I would recommend getting a side of soy.

Up until a year ago, I said the same thing about kraut, but, then I tried it out of curiosity and it immediately became my absolute favorite sandwich. I think that the part of the word "sauer"kraut just gave it a negative push. I don't find it sour at all. :hungry::)
