I didn’t need to be up until 5am, but apparently I am too excited to sleep. I got up and looked at my phone and thought it said 4. I felt well rested, so I thought I will just hang out in bed and keep quiet since the other mom, her kid, and dd are sleeping soundly. Anyways, I took another look at the phone and it was 2, not 4.:banghead: Well I realized I needed to sleep more, but of course after tossing and turning for almost 2 hours I gave up. :mad:So here I am. Not very happy with myself right now. I will pay for it later for sure.:rolleyes:
I hope you are not too tired today and your daughter's competition went well.

6:00-6:30 ish!! Come on over! We'll make corn bread!
I can cook while you drink the wine;)

My mom is going to have her gailbladder taken out soon she's been sick a lot. I really hope it helps her feel better
I hope your mom has a speedy recovery, sending you and your family some pixie dust.

My sister asked this morning if I was not excited about my solo trip to WDW next week, she noticed I hadn't been talking about it or shared much of my plans. I told her I am excited but didn't want to rub it in her face since she isn't going. Luckily my sister told me not to worry about it and asked me what I'll be doing and where I'll be eating etc. It was great talking about my trip and it made me even more excited if that is possible.

In case anyone is looking for sales this holiday weekend, L L Bean (on their web site--maybe in their stores, too, but not sure) has a 25% off.

I just ordered rain pants (a nice tech, waterproof material), that also double as pants you can put over jeans, etc., in winter, when there's a big storm. You'll stay dry in these. And because I bought a bunch of presents for people back at Christmas, I also earned some promotional $10 free cards. In addition, I had a gift card my brother gave me.

In the end, I got them for FREE, and I still have money left on my gift card!! Happy Dance!!! :joyfull:
Free is the best! As a Dutch person I am very familiar with rain pants and they are very practical.

Assuming she probably had a mortgage on it. I could be wrong though.

Yes and since I sold it 2 years later I still had a mortgage on it though at least the price went up. The house I just sold was paid for long ago, in 1999-ish, before the new millennial anyhow. To lazy to go look. :geek:

Not my problem but the young'ns that bought the house only put 2% down through FHA which drives up the added costs monthly. I thought they were crazy 'cause if all you can put together is 2% down what the heck are you going to do if a major appliance, roof etc needs to replaced quickly. Actually with the last housing crisis I thought they pretty much got away from loaning money unless you had a good downpayment? Obviously I wasn't paying that much attention.

The pulled pork turned out very tasty, I cooked it in ginger beer and some other ingredients, I made sweet potato mash and green beans as sides. I got my sister a few bottles of her favorite beer so she can have a nice start to her weekend.
So glad it turned out well!! Did you know Aldi has Pulled Pork already prepared that you just shove in the oven? Probably not as good as homemade though!

Unfortunately, its well known that the more stupid a person is.. the less "filtering" he thinks he needs. Therefore they tend to speak more and fear less to be seen as stupid.
That is called the Dunning-Kruger effect. A person is more likely to over-estimate their knowledge or ability in a certain area when they know little about it. Like, a person who is new to driving might think they are excellent drivers, and attribute their lack of accidents to how amazing they are. But as they learn more and gain experience, the more they realize how little they actually knew before. And a person who has a LOT of training in a certain area will realize how much there is still to learn, and will UNDER-estimate their ability, thinking themselves far behind. I find it fascinating.
Thnx. Revenge is a dish best served over a 3 day weekend where he can't leave the house
I'm making a nice long chore list, including but not limited to all my cooking prep work and cleaning the boy's bathroom
:angelic::D:angelic:
And the best part is, he can't complain....I mean...at least you aren't making him "work", by his own admission!

I love the pictures! And the food looks great! But I have to say, it confirms for me that I am NOT a beach bunny! I see those chairs in the sun and see people in their swimwear and I think...I'm so glad that's not me, sitting there wilting in that chair. Give me a comfy chair by the fire in a winter wonderland any day.

I went to the doctor because I've been super congested for weeks and thought I had a stubborn sinus infection. I went in, and he listens to me and says, "Well, the good news is it's not pneumonia..." 😨 We're talking about this as being in the realm of possibility? Bronchitis, he says. Antibiotic and twice a day nebulizer treatments for me for the next week. :grumpy: And I thought it was just a sinus infection...
Wow....glad they give you antibiotics. They won't do that here. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had Bronchitis and a sinus infection for 4 months. The doctor kept telling me it was a virus and antibiotics wouldn't help, come back if it didn't go away....so I kept going back because it didn't go away. Finally after 4 months, I went back and he had an intern who was seeing most of the patients who weren't urgent or something really weird. The intern asked me what I had done myself to get rid of it...I said I had been steaming my sinuses, used nasal spray, taken zinc, etc....she said it sounded like I had done everything I could, she would ask if she could give me an antibiotic....he okayed it and within a week of starting antibiotics, it was finally gone. (HARD to find an antibiotic I'm not allergic to that I could have while pregnant, though!) But my question is...if it was a virus, why did it not go away until I had meds?🙄

One of the boys asked me to do something last night and I said no. The quote was why not it's not like you work. I'm avoiding him for a while:angelic:

We bought our house with zero down. The VA loan let's any veteran buy a house with zero down up to $430k. We were smart about it though and didn't out kick our coverage, financially.

That is AMAZING....love it!!!!

I don't recall what year it was, but I remember the first time I saw a scene in Spaceship Earth, where 2 families were talking to each other from different locations--and they could each see the other on a TV screen. That was the most exciting thing for the future, I thought. :geek:

Now, we've reached that level with Skype, etc. But, you wanna know what? It was actually more exciting for me to "dream it" years ago, than the present reality fulfilled. ;)
I know exactly what you're talking about!!!! I remember seeing that and thinking...yeah, right....like THAT'S ever going to happen. How would you SEE someone with a PHONE? Or Phone someone with a TV?
I do love Skype though...it can be a real Godsend. I video chat with my niece and my brother and BIL. And when I went to check on my dad in 2013, He had gotten me a smartphone at my brother's suggestion and I used it to sing to my kids every night. When they were little, we let them choose between daddy reading them a story at bedtime, or me singing them a song. When I was gone for those three weeks, they wanted me to sing...so we skyped every night so I could sing.
Do yourself a favor and make it before she gets there. @MinnieM123 and kitchen are 2 words that don't belong in the same sentence. Maybe let your dd help make the corn bread:joyfull:
That's so funny...I was just going to say "I don't think you want to let @MinnieM123 anywhere near your kitchen!"

I hope everyone who has gotten the crud is feeling better! I've had it for nearly 3 weeks now....I'm finally getting better, though I still have a bit of a cough. It's a nasty bug that just seems to hang on. Everyone at work has been out for at least a few days...made me feel better that it wasn't just me, though!!

So since we were feeling better and they FINALLY had ONE showing of Coco in the Original English, we went to see it today! It was so cute....not as much of a tear jerker as I was expecting.....I actually didn't need my tissues for myself, but was glad I had them as DS was SOBBING. I hadn't expected that...he usually has some problems with empathy and relating to the sad things. But I think he still liked the movie. No Frozen short, though.
Then tonight, we left the kids with my In-Laws, and we went to see The Greatest Showman....SO GOOD!! They also showed trailers for a few shows I might want to see...The Post, and...I can't remember the name now, but it involved Gary Oldman playing Winston Churchill and I had NO clue it was Gary Oldman. I'm intrigued by Downsizing, but it kind of creeps me out, too....so I'm not sure about that one. No desire to see the one about the Stone Age...by the same company who does Wallace and Gromet and Chicken Run.

Oh!! And before Coco, we ran into the Centrum because I needed to get some black sheets to go with the kids' new Hogwarts bedding, so we went to Primark, and they FINALLY had the Wand pens!! They also had the robe I had wanted to get for DD for Christmas. :cautious: We decided against that, because she said she probably wouldn't wear a robe. And we also restrained ourselves from buying the Marauders Map/ Platform 9 3/4 throw pillows, the Hedwig pillow, and the Hogwarts Letter pillow, and the Potion bottle string lights, and the Lumos Maxima light box, and the door hanger signs directing you to the Shrieking shack, Hogsmeade, etc...oh so many new and tempting things!!!! But they also finally had the fold up grocery bag I really wanted and they haven't had for MONTHS....so I got 3. I was a very good girl limiting myself to that and the wand pens. (one for me, one for DS, as DD already had one.)
So that was my day....after work.
