It works! Thank you!!
Just out of curiosity, have you ever been to Yellowstone? Have you seen Old Faithful erupt first hand? It's pretty cool!

Hubs and I went out there in 2014, we drove all the way to California. Yellowstone was amazing. We loved it a lot with the mountains and wide open spaces. The geysers were fascinating, neither of us had ever seen a geyser. I was lucky enough to get us a room at the Old Faithful Inn so we were able to see Old Faithful erupt. That is one of my favorite memories was sitting on their balcony and drinking some wine and watching the geyser erupt with the sunset.

I have yet to cave and get an e-reader. There's just something about a physical book...the smell of the paper, the cute bookmarks...I can't give that up.

I'm with you, I would rather have the actual book. I have read a few books on my iPhone but I'm not a fan.

This made me chuckle, because no 7 AM and done for me yesterday. :p The reason was that yesterday was a 15 hour day for me, due to extended meetings at work. Left home at 6 AM and got home at 8 PM (12 hours work; 3 hours commute) This was due to an unusual situation that came up at work. (Plus I've had a cold for a week now, so that doesn't help.)

Today should be a more normal day. :)

Oh my. Sympathy like...
Hope today was indeed a more enjoyable day...

I don't know what it is about Girl Scout cookies, but I love them. Used to see a lot more of kids selling them, but not so much in the past few years.

Instead (up in my area at least) what I tend to see more is a group of them (with their parents) outside a grocery store on a weekend morning, with a "selling table" stocked with boxes of them. (I forget what time of year they sell these.) It made me wonder if they didn't want kids going door to door anymore to sell the cookies, for their own safety, perhaps? Just a thought.

Anyway, I always buy boxes of the thin mints--man, I LOVE those cookies (with milk)!!! :hungry:

Awesome, and thank you, Minnie...!!! :)
And yes, most of the cookies are indeed delicious...!!!!! :hungry: :)
Early on, with oldest DD, we did a bit of door-to-door with some neighbors we knew, as we had bought plenty of their kiddos stuff before...you just pay it back a bit, no big deal
After that, we all decided to do real selling at booths to teach them to reach out and learn real people skills, and how to just simply be great people. They did the selling, we just supervised. They have both thanked us for this many times...they learned good life lessons that continue to guide them to this day...!!! :)
Plus, most of the cookies weren't too bad, either...!!!!! :joyfull: :hungry: ;) :)

Up in our neck of the woods, door-to-door is allowed with parents in tow, but store sales are focused on because that's where the volume comes in (my last year as a Den Leader, we raked in $15,000 in sales...just our tiny little pack with less than 40 kids). Unfortunately for the Scouts in our Pack, the leaders aren't very on-the-ball with timing, so store sales result in freezing people in the cold even though you can start selling as early as late August.

Indeed a fun movie, and a lot of it was shot here in Austin... "Where's my stapler?"
"Why aren't you wearing more flair?"...!!!!! :hilarious:

Sorry about the 5a thing, but, I hope it's family related and y'all enjoy it...!!! :)

Great!! He's got a group of friends, and he's super excited that he had kids to invite to his birthday party Saturday. This is the first time EVER that we didn't have to scramble to find kids he could invite and who would actually come! He had a rough day Monday...screamed at his teachers, but they were able to talk it out later. He loves it and the change in him is amazing. He actually WANTS to go to school, and he's just a happier kid all the way around. I'm so glad we made the decision we did.

Well, who hasn't screamed on a Monday...!!!!! ;)
But, seriously, that is awesome news to hear..!!!!!!! :)

We always did both....we did the door to door sales, but also set up a table for the surplus. Since the cookies come in large boxes, sometimes if you've only sold 1 or 2 boxes out of that bigger box, you have a bit left over. So the best way to get rid of those is to set up a table.
Funny story...I bought cookies one year from an online friend since I'm not in the states to buy them. So I inquired who of my friends had a scout selling them and she did. I ordered my regulars and when they came, she stuck them in her freezer until she could send them. Her youngest was 3 or 4 at the time and she was a sneaky little turkey...the mom came into the kitchen to find her stuffing her face full of my girl scout cookies. She had seen them when her mom opened the freezer for something and waited until mom wasn't watching and was stealing them periodically. No girl scout cookies for me that year. My friend felt SO bad because I had already paid for them and everything.

Hahaaa..!!! :hilarious:
When our oldest DD started we did a bit of door to door with her, but, we didn't do them for long and mostly did the booths at stores in our area for 2-4 hours with both DDs beyond that. Walmart, Shoe Carnival, Walgreens, etc. DWifey was troop leader for both DDs (two different ones) troops and also Cookie Coordinators for both. I helped as much as I could and was also a Service Unit delegate to our local Concil for the alloted 2 years that I could be. And, yes, I definitely remember "Cleanup weak"...! We sold the heck outta' what everyone else had left...!!! :hilarious:
Down here we sell them from Jan. into Feb., as nobody wants a garage full of melted GS cookies...!!!!! :hilarious: ;) :)

Good memories for both DDs and us...!!!!!

My guess is it's probably a misunderstanding with (whatever member) you're referring to. That's the problem with posts at times--you can't see or hear the person, and sometimes things get misinterpreted.

What I can say is that you and your family have given so much back to your community. You've shared many good posts about all the good efforts down through the years, and I believe that every member on here can easily see that, and respect you and your family for your generosity.

Oh boy. I have no clue how I missed this post. A sheepish thank you, though...

Well, I kind of splurged tonight. My mom has a DSLR, and I borrowed it for my California trip, and I've really been wanting my own (she's usually pretty nice about letting me borrow hers but sometimes she says no, which is fair), but they usually run in the $700s, and I just couldn't do that. Well, I've been browsing Amazon, and they had an updated model of her camera. Normally $750...$500. As a Cyber Monday Deals Week sale. I was not going to find a better deal than that, so I jumped on it. It has full HD, WiFi, and can even shoot video. That's more than hers can do. And considering hers it about 7 years old and going strong, I'd say it'll last. Coming Monday, very excited. :D

Sounds nice!
Was it a Nikon or a Canon?
