What is Mousefest?? Big annual forum party?

Mousefest was a hoot! Every major player attended from major WDW fan websites, bloggers, travel agents you name it they were there by the thousands. It was an unofficial gathering of all of us mega Disney Fans. Most of the owners of websites and travel agents held get togethers meet ups somewhere on property. The times were posted which day, what time and where. Sometimes we all rode a ride together, met at a quick service, saw a show like Shrunk the Audience, watched Wishes or Illumination, stuff like that. We were able to meet hundreds of people we only knew by their screen names.

It was disbanded a little less than 10 years ago. Disney wasn't the organizer of the whole thing and they decided to launch their own, it was called D23. The unofficial reason was the gentleman that kept everything organized had had enough after many years of Mousefest and Magical Meets around the country. The meets continued at least for a while but Mousefest died a quick death.

My then hubby I had a blast. We stayed at Pop with a massive group of fellow Mousefest goers. The that I then did hail from the owner had written trivia books and held a trivia fest as 'his' meet up in the World Showcase. Podcasters galore were setting up shop everywhere.
What made it fantastic was there wasn't really any sign up, no up charges, you just went to the Mousefest offical website and picked what you wanted to do or you hung with a large chunk of people from the websites blogs and podcasts that interested you. It just happened in an every day- park setting. I was sad to see it go. Mousefest was an organization and did not profit at all, it was just pure fandom.

Those lights are so cute! They look like tulips! I love Christmas decorations in the US....they don't do a whole lot here because it's not so commercialized, but it's still pretty. Nothing on the US though.

I love Christmas lights. At night now I take the long way back and many detours just to wander down different streets.

A few weeks back I posted a video I think for @Cesar R M from prior year. Now this year is up and running

No idea and I have been here perhaps a couple of years o_O.

All Ears website has lots of Mousefest stuff on it

There is one organization that still goes on their own. That week. A group of longtime friends some from the defunct forums I use to play on years ago now. But the glory days of 100 of groups with thousands of their subscribers or members attending is long gone.

It was a fun outing today in Chicago. That's me, and Cheyenne. Cheyenne is my grandson's girlfriend, and there's a lot that she's never done as a child. I had fun taking her downtown, and showing her some Christmas traditions. Like the tree in the Walnut Room at the old Marshall Field's which is now Macy's. I worked there back in 1965.

What a fun day! You sure showed his girlfriend a great deal. I love the areas you visited, my DD go into the City many times a year. Last one we did the Bean too. Next time you two go exploring go further on down from Millennium Park. You went to the smaller Disney Store. The one more towards Water Tower Place is massive in comparison to the one you visited and the entire store is elaborately themed. She'd like that one too. It is on the Mag MIle / Michigan.

Those are very nice, happy photos. I'm glad you shared them with us and that you also had such a nice time!

As an introvert, this sounds terrifying :hilarious::hilarious: but I'm glad you got to experience it a few times!!

This is all very well but, what about those of us that work on the weekend :(

I used to really love working weekends. When I had my "weekend" on weekdays I was able to get so much more done and whenever I went someplace like the zoo I'd have the place to myself. In the Army we'd sometimes have to work weekdays *and* weekends though and that was terrible. Around day nine of a 12-19 day work week I'd lose all motivation and energy.

That's really amazing what the Army people do for all of us in the country. I know you're not in the Army now, but I do want to (retroactively) thank you for all of your sacrifices you made for us.
