21royalstreet's Twitter is indicating this has a 10 year shelf-life at most and it's designed to be easily swapped out with new IP as you can just switch the exterior and queue decorations and put new video in the drop shafts. Like Chapek wants Disney to imitate Universal in those kinda ways,

Only attractions currently open that seem that easy to change would be Shrek, Simpsons, and Minions. Possibly Jimmy too.

Simpson would be tough though since Springfield would have to go with it if it's an IP change.

I would be shocked to see Simpsons go. The show is more likely to be cancelled than the ride closing unless they build something different based on the IP there.

It's a good article except the politics stuff. Blaming that is just stupid. But yeah they paid too much for rights and combined with lost subscribers it's blowing up in their face.

That article I think neatly sums up the problems with ESPN, I

do think that ESPN's injection of politics into the shows did contribute to the ratings decline though because no matter whose side you choose you will offend the other side.

ESPN was at its best when it covered SPORTS and sports alone. Plenty of other venues to discuss politics and politics and sport dont mix.

Even the Original Olympic games placed sport over politics with the incessant wars of the greek city-states being suspended during the Olympics with the Olympic Truce

Once there was a time when Disney led in attraction design... now they are content to follow the players on the undercard

Sounds like they are taking their cue from their corporate overlord...

The future of ESPN and all other cable channels is dependent on direct advertising. Once the delivery system is changed to Video internet and having the ability to directly advertise to specific consumers the entire cost revenue model changes.

Also ESPN did lose viewers because of their political views and shows. It was a bad move that every company should take a careful look at. Leave politics where is belongs on the cable news channels.

Drunk History on Comedy Central isn't too bad, though it really depends on the episode. Key & Peele was great, but that's gone. Was going to mention Documentary Now!, but that's on IFC (if you haven't watched Documentary Now!, I highly recommend it).

That's such a laughable comment Guardians is going to break all kinds of records, regardless if you got this entire board to protest, which it wont because by all accounts the movie is great.

Not sure how politics play into cord cutting; end of the day, that's what's at the heart of the crisis ESPN is facing.

And saying "leave politics out of (whatever)" is typically pretty fruitless. I realize I'm saying this as a civics teacher, but the textbooks all say it clearly: like it or not, everything is political. Not everything has to be partisan, of course, but everything, including sports in a very big way, is political.

Regardless, though, again, politics on a sports channel, whatever they might be, won't be the big factor driving cord cutters.
