Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
We've watched throught the third episode. My parents aren't home today, so it looks like episode 4 will get watched tomorrow before I go to school. I'm itching to watch it, but will wait so my mom and I can watch it together.
Still have not seen the last episode. Maybe tomorrow. It is funny that they are single episodes 'cause they are 1.5 hours without commercials. That is longer than some movies. Don't know how @Songbird76 plowed through all four so quickly.

Speaking of cakes -- wasn't there some sort of stink this past year about how they won't personalize those anymore? So can't you just see it--8 people in a hot tent all saying "congratulations" to someone there, (for whatever the reason)--and on a cheapo, fold-up, tray table in the tent, all they could order was this big, PLAIN sheet cake?!! :hilarious:
If that's what they do now, that's terrible. They are trying really hard to drive everyone away. I no longer recommend Disney to anyone. Too much money, for so little. Epcot future world is nothing but a disappointment.

One card done! :D

And for squirrels, yes I do really enjoy them too. Here is an article you might like....

Love them or hate them, everyone knows that squirrels are a fixture on the UIUC campus, and especially on the Quad. And why wouldn’ t they stick around, with all the friendly students throwing food their way? What you may not know is how they came to campus in the first place.

Evidently, squirrels were in short supply on University grounds in the early 1900s. By May 1901, University President Andrew S. Draper had apparently been talking about changing that, as referenced in this letter from Professor of Geology Charles W. Rolfe, dated May 6, 1901:

“Referring to our conversation regarding squirrels, I think I shall be able to secure a few…that have been bred in the city and are not afraid of people. I would suggest that a good sized breeding cage with several separate compartments be constructed somewhere on the lawn…and that several pairs be kept in it continuously…” 1

President Draper’s reply was terse but enthusiastic:

“…I am glad that you are able to secure a few, and will be glad to cause the necessary cage to be made…I am heartily in favor of the undertaking.” 2

Draper made good on his promise, as he included the following recommendation in a letter to the Board of Trustees dated July 5, 1901:

“For some years I have had in mind the domestication of squirrels upon the grounds of the University and have made some investigations which lead me to believe that the suggestion is entirely practicable. Conferences with Professor Charles W. Rolfe have led him to ascertain where the animals can be found, and to look into the methods for housing and retaining them. The expense of such an undertaking is uncertain, but would easily be within $250…If successful, the influence upon University life, and upon the feelings of students, would be considerable, and students would carry that influence to all parts of the State. I therefore recommend that Professor Rolfe be asked to initiate and supervise the enterprise, and that $250 or so much as may be necessary be appropriated to meet the expenses.” 3

The University Board of Trustees adopted the recommendation on July 6, 1901.4
Thank you. I've loved squirrels for as long as I can remember. I lived in K.C. for 20 years, and had a bird feeder, the birds would come early and late. I fed them twice a day. Then squirrel would come about 10 A. M. I'm enjoying my second cup of coffee then. The silly squirrels would be upside down crawling along the electric line to the house. Jump from their into the feeder. So fun to watch them bury seed after they had their fill. We had sunflowers coming up all over the back yard. Then the squirrels would take away the sunflower head, full of seeds. They are really great rodents!

No

Mmmhmmm.

If my bedroom door is closed and Belle wants in, she will meow relentlessly (and loudly) until I let her in.

When she wants attention, she just jumps in my lap and stands on my chest, even if the laptop was there first.

If her water bowl is empty, she'll sit by it and stare at us until we fill it.

If the automatic feeder is empty, you can't get anything done until you fill it.

Evidently, if I'm gone all day, she walks around complaining about it.

She also complains if there's nothing to look at outside.

The other night, she wanted to sleep with me. As soon as I went upstairs, she followed me up and laid on my bed while staring at me until I cuddled with her.

Yeah, they are closing the satellite extension campus/office she is at. The campus where most are heading is in the cluster of congestion...a normal 30 minute drive could take an hour or more, lots more if there is snow. The tollway ramps there are like the St Louis arch, crazy in the winter. The current thought is she will be allowed to work remotely and every so often having to travel there. *deep breaths* So far she seems to have made the hurdle....
I hope she can work from home. She will be in my prayers.

Thank you. I really do enjoy the Christmas set. I added to it over the years, it is fun and festive.

My DD has a collection of Minnie Mugs along with many others, I love her Mine Mine Mine Mug. And I don't care for anyone's schmancy china cups. The wide rims make the coffee get cold quickly and the handles the size of a nickel? Yep, give me a Minnie Cup too!!!
Agree....I'm so done with the pretense of formal china.

Every time I'm in EPCOT I go and look at the beautiful fancy schmancy tea cups in the tea shop. I usually make at least 2 or 3 trips through (one on our last day to get a few Cadbury bars) any way first time through I think I'm finally going to get myself one with pink roses but hold off knowing I'll be back and wind up debating with myself if lavender might be a better choice, 2nd time through same thing and by my last visit I realize that's too much money for something that will never get used and wouldn't hold much if any sentimental value. My Figment cups have always been a good deal:inlove:
And they are way more cute!

Disney announced an up charge I can get on board with:) Eat and drink around the monorail. 2 apps, dinner 3 or 4 drinks and viewing of Wishes from the Contempoary $150. Almost sounds like a good deal seeing there is no age limit I think they'll make their money by charging full price for kids. A much better idea than those stupid tents

Good morning. I woke up and my power is on and the wind has calmed down.:)It's still raining but we need it and it gives me an excuse to get some sewing done:joyfull:
I'm glad you are having a great day! I got my house put together, now it has to harden. Tomorrow one side to do. I'm milking this out for days. Gotta say I need a little fun each day in the winter. I'm coloring my art calendar this afternoon!

That sounds like so much fun. My sewing involved hemming yards and yards and yard of fleece. Not creative at all but very productive. a while back I made my dh a cross between a shawl and a snuggie it hard to describe and doesn't look very interesting but everybody who's seen it liked it so I'm making a bunch for future gifts.

I agree, I thought that might be an equal value for the money.
