I have been to Europe and toured castles. None of which had the amount of concrete and go away green light poles that the new hub has embraced.

None of them have thousands of people walking up to them every day either. But, for realism, the garden approach is much more accurate then the hide it with trees look. I don't notice any difference in how it projects to the end of Main Street. It is where it is and where it has always been. It is an important object to draw people excitedly further into the park.

Don't forget the trees at the hub. Since they used to sparkle at night giving the illusion that it's pixie dust.

Since the four existing scenes are essentially "wedges" within the building, I've always wondered if there was enough room in the wedge of the unload theater to add a Scene 5 that could be more of a jump to a Horizons-like vision of the future.

One caveat is that this would require being able to Load and Unload simultaneously at what is currently the Load theater position.

Forward thinking: An idea could be to add a transitional "buffer" scene between each show scenes in the form of a video montage; a screen mounted to the right wall of the wedged theater. It would play as a timelapse video showcasing "world of tomorrow" advancements thru the decades as it approaches the same timeline of the next show scene.

This "transition video" effect could also enhance the final scene allowing for a "timejump" look into the future; without ever having to physically change the AAs, set or script in the final scene.

Best of both worlds! It would keep Walt's CoP scenes unchanged and "plus" the experience by featuring various video enhancements that can easily be changed by imagineers should they choose to show current era progress or possible futuristic advancements.

I so very truly hope that the "fix" of CoP doesn't happen other then updating AA's, sound, etc. Any tampering with the last scene, in my mind, will mean that absolute end of CoP as soon as people start to complain again about how dated it is. (which will be about two weeks after they finish updating) They cannot move the last scene forward without losing the continuity of the story line. It needs to remain a historic show about the 20th century otherwise it become unrealistic, unconnected and just plain folly. If they want to display the continuation of progress of humans all they have to do is build an attraction that points out the look into the future. Maybe they could call it Horizons or something. Wait!!

Or.... What if they moved the last scene back to it's original vintage world's fair ending... Leave it firmly planted in 1964... after all, it is presented as "Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress"... Allow it to be a time capsule of sorts... and let's all marvel at the beauty of the original 1964 finale set... modernist and still somehow relevant today...

Actually, they have started. Both IASW and PPF have had facade refurbs this year.

I mean like completely new facades, ones that are similar to the ones in Disneyland's Fantasyland. Pooh got a new facade, one thats more fitting and not like those ugly carnival tents when NFL opened.

Well, I wouldn't want to duplicate what is in DL. The tents are far enough away that they don't even factor into the older Fantasyland facades. Why even bring those up?

I didn't bring up any older Fantasyland facades. Disneyland's Fantasyland is soooo much nicer then MKs.

I guess because as part of Fantasyland, they look out of place...given the level of detail everwhere else.
They should have been well details charming facades... but , I guess I am more hoping that they did not invest the money in the facades because they were planning on building a real attraction in that area at some point...

Fixing up the facades could and should be something that can be done while the attraction itself is closed for a refurb, not a "project" in itself.

He's talking about the small tents at the entrances of Pan, Small World, etc.

I understand your opinion on the trees, but I think originally they served more as a buffer between the castle and MSUSA. So when you entered the park the castle seemed more off in the distance. As if you were on the outskirts of a kingdom..

MKs Fantasyland was an embarrassment, especially when compared to DLP, pre New Fantasyland. The expansion not only adding some solid new rides but also dragged the level of Fantasyland up to respectable. It's these details which made the expansion a net positive in my eyes. It's still miles off the detail of Paris, and I suspect original Disneyland too.

The area around teacups going into Tomorrowland is stuck in the 80s and is in such a poor state, but the speedway doesn't help here at all. I think it should be torn down, with half the area dedicated to Fantasyland (Alice in Wonderland). It doesn't even have to be an expensive build. A themed restaurant...the maze (Shanghai/Paris) the darkride from Disneyland. Redo the speedway on multiple levels and make an attempt at giving it a futuristic theme/ or come up with a new concept here.
