So my internship is going really well, so well that my boss took me out to lunch today. He spent about five minutes talking with me about work, and then we talked about the Orioles and Disney for the rest of lunch. :hilarious:

But the good news is that they want to bring me in as an enrollment agent, which is part-time and paid! :D

Congrats, getting paid is always good news. You must be impressing them. :)

Nope. Since I had drop foot a few years ago I can't wear flipflops or slide in slipper shoes. It's sturdy shoes or bare feet from now on.

Eeek. Drop Foot is nasty. I had a friend that has had episodes with it and she walks similar to person that had suffered a stroke. I'd be wearing sturdy shoes too. Me since I fell off the ladder I wear very good running shoes for support. Pixie Dust, hope you recover quickly.

See my DD can't just deal with some of her particular allergies. First it is like as she says an elephant is sitting on her chest and then getting air into her lungs is next to impossible. Not something you just deal with, they'd have to land the plane. My niece has been transported multiple times to the ER this first year at her University. They or she slams in the Epi and then they must transport her to ER. On our flights on SouthWest we get bags of pretzels.

Speaking of pretzels, I wanted to pass along this link to you and your DD, and also to @StarWarsGirl . Apparently, there's been some sort of a potential peanut allergen in "some" pretzels--the link below is from our Channel 5 (ABC) TV station here in Boston. (It lists codes on certain bags to watch for in the recall. If you already know about this, then disregard.)

Yea, I tend to steer clear of perfume areas and detergent aisles in stores. I don't have a reaction, per se, most of the smells just annoy my senses.
And yes, folks doused in the stuff is pretty off-putting, as well.

I find that some perfumes (on others) tend to burn my eyes a little, if I get too close to them. I hate heavy perfumes in general. But that also goes for heavy men's colognes or after shave products. I kid you not--this morning, I was walking up the long ramp to the train, and a man passed by me, absolutely reeking of cologne--and I could STILL smell it when he was a good 30 feet ahead of me. I pitied the poor people who sat around this guy on the train. I watched where he walked, and I walked to the opposite end of the train platform!!

Sorry to hear that and I'll be damned. I've been around all these years and have never heard of it before. Sounds like a total hassle. Hope it gets better for you. At this point, I'd like to take back whatever whining I have been doing concerning my kidney boulder. (walks away with head hanging low in shame)

Gabe, stay calm. My comment was not an attempt to say you weren't aware of it personally, it was that sometimes, we all tend to not understand what the declining person is going through and focus on how their problems negatively affect us.

Stay Calm? I DO understand what my Dad is going through, always have if you've read my posts. I am there for him constantly advocating for him, feeding him, sitting him up and laying him down. It is over a two hour round trip for me to just to drive. It is tiring and very stressful, been doing this since February. Yes his being incapacitated has dramatically altered his life, my life and my families, that's a fact but that is what family does for each other.

What I offered in my post to @Cesar R M was friendship and support as he too has stepped up to the plate to deal with a family member. I said to him "Oh Dear I am sorry. If it is any comfort I am living the same life right now. It is so difficult to see the ones we love decline. I'm here for you as we walk this road." I never indicated it was a PICNIC for his grandma or my father. You called me out specifically in this post and quoted my empathy post to Cesar with: "It's no picnic for the one that's declining either. Just sayin." was so unnecessary given what I said to Cesar and yes I take offense being poked at when it comes to family and health. To follow that up with Gabe Stay Calm, who says things like that under the circumstances? I'm sorry or I apologize would have been more appropriate.

We have all offered you support and good thoughts as you too have struggled with your health and more support as you too struggled with your daughters Moms health. We were all sincere. I too have received many very nice posts of encouragement from our thread for my Dad, me and my family. I genuinely appreciate kind words. After having said something inappropriate to me following it up with Gabe, stay calm was just uncalled for.

Will only be doin' closers this often for a few more weeks, then he's gonna' be down to just one location again.
The indoor mall location where he's been for 6+ years has been snapped up by Zumiez for double the rent, and Simon Properties also wants double from him if he wants the vacant space next door.
At one point he was about to get booted from the outdoor mall location I'm covering tonight, as well, by people who wanted this space for a restaurant. It seems after they did a feasibility study, fortunately for him, they backed out. This space has never been a restaurant, so it would have taken some serious bucks to bring it up to speed, plus Maggiano's is directly across the outdoor concourse.

The mall rents at double what he's paying now, is just greedy. He's been there for 6 years as a good business tenant, and has brought in customers, who may then visit other stores in the mall, too. These types of short-sighted, quick buck decisions (doubling the rent), can backfire and I hope it does.

And on that note I have to walk away for a while.
Please read what I put there. I was never in anyway, shape or form saying or implying that you felt that way. It was a general thought about humanity in general, not you specifically. I don't think you ever got past the stay calm part. I'm sorry if you interpreted it as a personal attack but, that is not what it was thus the stay calm remark. I can't force you to understand my motives, but, the best I can do is explain and hopefully that will be sufficient. I stated it because I did it myself when my mother was dying. Every once in awhile I had to tell myself that compared to what she was dealing with my inconvenience was minor. Hopefully, you will read this and understand the general point I was trying to make.
