I love cross stitch, they have so many nice books and patterns. Do you frame yours ? DD has a cross stitch that I did over thirty years ago. It was a Christmas one I did and had framed. I visit it once a year!![]()
I hated it in high school...I wasn't allowed to date, but even if I had been, no one was lining up to date me, and it was just a miserable day.
@ajrwdwgirl , did your mom pass on Valentine's Day? My mom passed on the 4th of July, so that's a hard one for me, but fortunately over here that's not a holiday, so I don't have the reminder everywhere I look.
side effects were affecting him?Oh, stepgrandfather update:
It's been a long haul, but he's doing much better. He's in rehab right now, but my grandmother says they think he will be able to go home next week. Yea! They were concerned because his blood pressure was dropping when he would stand. My grandmother has a friend who is a pharmacist, and her friend thought about the fact that it could be one of his medications. When her friend went over his medication list, she determined the culprit and gave his doctor an alternative medication idea. He went on the other medication and is no longer having that problem. So that is very good news and quite a relief
I consider myself vertically challenged, though I'm a thoroughly respectable 5 foot 6. But my mom was 5 foor 10, my brother is 6 foot 4, my hubby is 6 foot 2...so I'm the only "short" person. I guess everyone else was so tall there was nothing left for me.Are you a vertically challenged person like me too? Yep my DS didn't fit in any of his new born infant clothing or jammies. My second my DD was only 7.8 ounces, Doc warned me she'd be bigger than her brother. Ha! I only gained about 25# with her and she didn't have a big block head so I got to come home from the hospital in 2 days instead of 5 like DS. Swear I could have delivered and walked out but DD was in the NIC unit so they kept me a few days.
you need a ton of stamina for these type of races.I would LOVE to try out for Amazing Race someday! It just sounds like a lot more fun.
thats.. a holiday?? :/Only 14 daya until National clean your fridge out day !!! View attachment 117227
I guess that answers my earlier question....I hadn't read this far. I completely understand...my mom died on a holiday. She had breast cancer and my neighbor knew how much I struggled with it being on the 4th of July and she told me that she was freed from her pain on that day...it seemed fitting. And my friend from Iran says that in her culture, a person who is born or passes on a holiday is considered special because their entering or leaving the world had to be marked in some other way.As a kid I wasn't too into the holiday, maybe because no one every gave me the big heart shaped box of chocolates I wanted. It didn't really bother me to be without a date thought (I just wanted the candy). And now like I said it reminds me of my mom passing, she actually died on February 13, but it was the first holiday without her.
Seriously? PARENTS trick or treating? That sounds...wow...there are no words. I could understand a parent bringing an extra bag if one kid was sick or something and couldn't come, that they would explain it and ask if they could have a treat for said sick child, but to be a grown person begging for candy? That's kind of rude. This year knowing an all day rain was coming I bought more snacks than candy. Cheetos, M&M Cookies, Minion Roll Ups and a big box of red twizzler licorice. We have a chunk of trick or treaters that arrive in my neighborhood by the vanload & even their parents have bags.
For those who drive in from out of town I bought the Twizzlers. Easily 20 people roll out of the full size vans and invade the neighborhood. Most of the families I know or at least recognize. When I see 10-20 at my door step and the parents are trick or treating it is an immediate read flag to not a community event. Took a couple years but I caught on.![]()
Finding the stamina would be the easy part. Sitting still on those long flights and not killing my partner.....those would be the hard parts!you need a ton of stamina for these type of races.
Huh...I want to lose weight, but I'm not willing to go through a divorce to do it. Please make sure you are taking care of yourself. I know it must be incredibly stressful, but the best gift you can give your daughter is to take care of yourself so you have the energy to be there for her for a very long time. It's not selfish to take time for your health.Speaking of half kidding, I've been on the divorce diet. I don't know how much weight I've lost, but it's enough that my pants are all pretty loose now. Obviously it's not for everyone, though. OK, no more divorce talk, I promise!![]()
Well, I just bought loose components that I hope will look like a Snitch when completed. Do you have jewelry making supplies like the pliers and such? I bought a few golden colored beads and some sets of wings and I plan to stick a head pin with a flat head up through the golden bead and then through the hole on the silver wings and then use the round pliers to make the loop at the top of the head pin and attach it to the earring. If that makes sense. I'll take pictures as I go so you can see.Pleas share a pic of the earrings and directions, I'd love to try and make a set. thank you
Yup. Like we're doing to @figmentfan423 .dont worry about it.sometimes we just tag people for amusement.Isn't that right @figmentfan423
Oh how sweet!! How old was she?I love the little kids, we had one little girl , carrying a pumpkin to hold the candy in. Hubby told her to grab a handful of suckers, and pick out a bag of chips. She looked at the size of chips, and her pumpkin, and told hubby. "I'm full." I love the fun things kids say!. Daddy carried her chips for her.![]()
Thanks!I can't imagine what King's original ending must have been. The movie was scary enough for me, without King's ending.
Thanks, we live through everyone's vacation pictures!I will post some for sure!
I would say around three.Oh how sweet!! How old was she?
I always gave out valentines cards to everyone...same thing...I felt bad for the kids who didn't get many. The few that some kids got were from the kids that gave them to everyone...usually me. (and my best friends) Since I moved here, I've made Christmas cards because that's a very big thing over here...making cards. But it's too expensive to send cards overseas to everyone, so I usually send an email Christmas card, and just send real cards to people without email, but I've forgotten every year for the last few until it was too late. Now I have a whole supply of handmade Christmas cards, so DD and I are going to sell them at the school's Christmas market. In the past, the Christmas activity has been dinner for the kids...they dress up, parents are asked to make something and bring it to the school to share with their class. But the parents always complain that they have to do the work, but don't get to enjoy any of it as it's strictly a drop your kid off with the food and then pick them up later. So this year, they've decided to do a market and ask parents or community members to donate things to sell and the money will be used to buy a play station for the children's wing of the hospital for the kids who are bed-ridden, and the rest will go towards new playground equipment at the new location whenever that gets built. (which I'm hoping will be a few years yet so my kids never have to go there.) So DD and I are going to sell our crafts.I never liked the valentine card thing is school. My experience, was that some kids only got 1 or 2, and the "popular" kids, got lots! I always felt sad for those who didn't get many. I gave out cards to everyone, not just special friends. I agree , Valentine's Day, is just another spend money celebration. Hubby and I haven't done Christmas Cards and Valentine's cards for years. They are expensive, and a total waste of money. We take what we would have spent and went out to eat. The day before, or after as we don't do large crowds!

That is so wonderful, what you are doing for the children's hospital. My grandson had to have eye surgery when he was three, I loved that hospital, before they took him to be sedated, they gave him a teddy bear, and pulled him around the hospital in a child's wagon. Letting him get used to the area he was going to be in. They were so kind.I always gave out valentines cards to everyone...same thing...I felt bad for the kids who didn't get many.
