Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Our second day was hubby's birthday. The Eiffel Tower was the main part of our agenda today. We were really impressed with the Tower and yep we went up to the very top!

There was a boulangerie near our hotel, so we had a chocolate pave (basically a chocolate croissant with a creamy filling) for breakfast.

I heard that NYSE was down, due to Greece, and China. United had to ground planes, for a while. Something with a jet landing in Hawaii, glad you are back StarWarsGirl95. I have no idea about the Wall Street Journal, unless they had to go back to press to update the world situation! Yes, I worked at a newspaper in the past, we just sent out an updated evening edition, that costs too much today. Just my one penny's worth. I'm sure it's not worth 2 cents, even with inflation! ;)

When I was growing up, my father used to always get the morning and evening edition of the newspaper. :)

I don't know about that play dead thing. If I were one of them I would think.... Wow, a meal that I don't even have to work for. I've never seen any wild animal that would have any reason to shy away from a dead animal. There must be more to the story.

Well, there's only one way to find out. I'm volunteering you to test the hypothesis: please go out into the woods tonight and when you see a bear, roll up and pretend you're dead. If he leaves you alone and walks away, then playing dead works. However, If we don't hear back from you by tomorrow, we'll know that you were eaten alive, BUT you would have been right (although quite dead, but you took one for the team here) in your analysis, at least!! :hilarious:

Gee, what a great idea, but, I'm to old and tough skinned. What they like is softer female flesh so therefore, ahead of time, I wish to tell you how much we appreciate your willingness to go that extra step.

the bells rang for 5 minutes?
I wonder how loud it was!

also hmmm chocolate!!! <3

I think it was around 5 minutes, maybe less, my video is about 3 min and they were ringing before that. It wasn't too loud, there are two towers and they were ringing in the other tower. It did make me think of Quasimodo though.

The chocolate was amazing. I just had a piece of chocolate I bought in Paris and now I wish I bought more.

If there were more to the story, that's all we heard. We didn't question, what we were told because we were novices. We did several things that no one would do, guess we were being protected, from the great protector. We put food in our tent. I know now, living in Colorado, that was not the thing to do. We were in our early 20's, and uninformed about camping in the wilderness. We once, camped at a river; and had to move our tent during a thunderstorm, at night due to rising water. Later, when we had a camper, the tent kind...I dropped the crank down the side of a mountain, on the way to spend a weekend in the Big Thompson Canyon , I'm so thankful, today...if I hadn't done that....we would have been camping there when the big flood came and killed so many people. It was 1976, our daughter was only 6 at the time. It was a 35ft. wall of water. I can only say that, we have had protection in our lives. Our God has been our strength, and our guidance , in times of need. I'm not saying this to hurt anyone's feelings. It's just our families experiences.

DD and I had a great day at Typhoon Lagoon, though! However, we only got to go on Crush 'n' Gusher once, as she scraped her knee right after getting out of the raft and then refused to get back on. :(

So the rest of the day was spent in either the lazy river or wave pool! :)

And despite putting on lots of sunblock, my shoulders managed to get burned, but at least that was it. :cat:

Ha ha ha . . . hey, not so fast! ;) This was your idea that playing dead wouldn't work to deter the animals. Tag, you're it! :p You're the bait! (P.S.: Not to worry there, buddy. Nothing would happen to you anyway, despite your tough skin. All wild animals know the rule: leave the "playing dead" actors alone. No challenge. :joyfull: )
