Well, I'm up ridiculously early (3:30 a.m.) because I have a cold. I haven't had a cold in about 2 years, at least. Woke up coughing, so just decided to go get some coffee and hang out here for a while. Have to get a 6:30 bus this morning anyway, so I might as well just stay up.

Stopped by Walgreens on the way home last night, to get some cold medicine (one of the nurses at work recommended one that had Advil in it). Haven't bought cold medicine in years, so I go to the aisle with the cold remedies and I find these cards in a slot, for the med. I want. It says you have to take the card up to the pharmacy desk to buy it. Okaaay . . . that's really inconvenient. So I take the stupid card up to the counter and the woman hands me the cold medicine. Then she asks for a driver's license (to purchase cold medicine??) and then I had to sign an electronic keypad to indicate that I wasn't public enemy # 1. I told the pharmacist that I was never getting sick again, because none of this wasted effort was worth it!!!

That is where they keep the good and effective cold medicines, it has been back there for years. The stuff shelved not so good. I buy the Advil in the green box, the one in the red box doesn't work for me as well. You can only purchase so many boxes per month and there is a data base keeping you from going over the limit which is bad when all 4 of us get bad colds as they go by address on drivers licence. The active ingredient is one of the components to manufacture Meth so they started regulating it.

Much like purchasing White Out or Ammonia, do bad things with them and they get regulated.

golly. Had I known you a few years ago, I could have given you a truck load of furniture. When my mom passed, we cleared her house and gave it all to Goodwill. I kept a couple of pieces for sentimental reasons but had no room for the rest.

Sadly my family didn't really keep any of their old furniture.

@MOXOMUMD , you must be getting very excited about your upcoming cruise!! I figure after the St. Patrick's Day pictures are over, you'll probably be posting cruise ship pictures and locations for us until the big day!!

Not very much kept behind the counter; mostly iron, Gravol, and products containing codeine.
I.D. only required for prescription narcotics.

Love that one too. There are just so many great classic British shows. There's Dad's Army, Blackadder, Only Fools and Horses, Yes Minister, Till Death Us Do Part, and so many more.

My friend's mom was a big fan of As Time Goes By and that made Judi Dench one of my favorite actresses.

3:30 am is sometimes my bed time.

How have you not had a cold in years? Lucky. I seem to get them every other week when I'm in school.

If the medication contained Sudafed, you have to buy it behind the pharmacy counter. It's because they use Sudafed to create meth, so they monitor how much you purchase it and limit how much you can get at once. Really inconvenient, but sudafed works like a charm.

Anything with Sudafed is good. My doctor also recommends Mucinex. But for some reason, the kind with sudafed in it makes me really dizzy, so I just take the Mucinex-D, which has no sudafed. I also like Robitussin cough medicine. There was one day my freshman semester that I was in Public Speaking and felt really, really bad. It was either cough through someone's speech or go do something about the cough, so I got up and left. I went to the campus store (which was a two minute walk from my classroom...small school) and found Robitussin cough and cold. That stuff was so worth it. Worked like a charm. I stopped coughing, my body stopped aching, and my congestion cleared right up. I keep it on hand for when I feel really bad, and no one else is allowed near it.

I went to Catholic school. I know all the Italian bad words.
Growing up Pentecostal (coupled with Catholic school!), I used to figure God would forgive swearing if it were in a foreign tongue. Never even felt compelled to confess it prior to our twice/monthly school mass.

It's definitely considered vintage now. I've been having a lot of trouble finding certain furniture pieces. I've been looking for matching 70's end tables and coffee table for ages. I either find one end table or just the coffee table but I can't find a matching set. Something like this.

Wow! My MIL had furniture very similar to that when I was dating my DH. When they moved, it didn't move with them. This stuff made it to many peoples basements over the years...keep checking those thrift stores the stuff often changes weekly.

I have a 60 year old breakfront that I painted white first then with all the nooks and crannies painted it to match my DDs room. Some old stuff is really cool if you use your imagination.

One more week of classes, and then mid semester break. I call it "mid semester break" and not "spring break" because "spring" does not appear to be coming anytime soon.

Today: Had an assignment due at 5. Note: I do not have Friday classes.

Tomorrow: two assignments due (the beauty of technology: professors can make things due on a Saturday! )

So my Monday: first I have ice skating. Then I have a midterm. Then I have a presentation. In the same class that I have two assignments due for tomorrow.

Tuesday: who knows, have not heard a word from Spanish professor. My guess is she will change the schedule due to the snow. My other "real" class (the one that is not chorus)...who knows.

And then on Wednesday, I have another assignment, for the same class that I have two assignments due tomorrow! Yippee!

You see, we earn our breaks. It's almost like we get punished for having them the week before. Maybe they should just get rid of the break and make fewer assignments due all at once. And then get out a week earlier in May.

Some students would probably want to shoot me for saying that, but anyway...

I love looking at old family photos and seeing what the houses looked like. My grandparents had wall to wall burnt orange s h a g carpet. I'm hoping that will come back in style someday.

I have lived in my home for over 30 years now. It came with that orange carpet and matching satin drapes! What became my DS room and Navy and Aqua pile carpet too. My DD room had the same orange as the living room. We had the house for 6 weeks before we could undo all that and more. The only thing we couldn't pull off was one of the bathrooms off a hallway, it was just too expensive. It had this sick-o green tile and some strange tile on the the floor in a real weird shape and of course those lovely sliding doors that rested on the the side of the bathtub. Ugh.
I was so happy the day my DH took a sledge hammer to that bathroom down to the studs, the last of the 70's decor.

As we peeled layers of 70's stuff in many areas was amazing finds in our old home. Under those rugs and in our kitchen was beautiful hardwood floors that just needed to be resealed. Actually a couple of decades of being under wall to wall carpeting likely saved those hardwood floors.
