Recipe for closing clubs:
Build West Side as a knee jerk reaction to Citywalk
West Side vendors complain not enough foot traffic
Un-gate island rather than build a viable alternate route AROUND the island
2004 - the last promotion of PI took place
2004-2005 Eisner, who wanted PI in the first place and protected it, is forced out of power
cut maintenance/refurb, tear down entertainment stage, stop nightly fireworks, close RRBC, see a potential tennant swoop it up for the prime real estate, justify the same idea for the whole island, pitch idea to Burbank, close clubs, cover up with PR story about surveys and "guest demand"
Since PI closed, there was an armed robbery at McDonald's, a guy with a loaded gun found in a bathroom, teens still hang out by AMC, broken windows in the parking lot, and this is all just what's publicly known. Believe me, there are still issues at DTD, just like anywhere. The clubs were not the cause of that and closing them was not the solution. HoB has service industry night every Sunday night PACKED wall to wall with people, no one seems to be complaining about them coming out drunk. Those are just phantom theories put into place by people who don't see the true big picture of the closing of PI. My argument is they made the wrong choice in doing so.
