We sold our BLT points last year lost 800.00 (best money I ever lost) We are at the World now, met two other families yesterday at Wilderness Lodge with BLT as there Home resort, told them our Experience, each said "you only lost $800.00" I said yes they both asked for info on The Timeshare Store.

Same complaints, miserable Cast Members, You dont get that welcome home feeling, more like a dont bother me feeling, troubles at check in Sterile Enviorment feeling, worn rooms already, firework viewing area outside of lounge upstairs resembles a concrete bunker.... not enough support, ( anything you need you have to go To contemp) terrible food selections.

Now I am very picky but find it interesting that others have the same complaints...... (perhaps I'm not as picky as I think)

On another note, we visited Wilderness Lodge, had that same Welcome Home feeling we get at beach Club. Wilderness is a spectacular resort.

I have seen posts in the past that suggest Cast Members are one way here and another way there. I attribute it to just chance. I have a hard time believing that there really is a group of CMs at one place that are all just 'terrible' and then another group of CMs right across the water way (VWL) that are just great. Many of these CMs are making close to minimum wage. I would anticipate turnover happens on a regular basis. I doubt there is such a huge difference in training CMs between say the Polynesian and the Contemporary. So again, I would attribute it to just chance. Are there certain individuals that provide better customer service than others, yes....is there some unknown, unexplainable force that puts all the bad CMs at the Contempory and all the good ones over to the Beach Club...sorry, I just can't see it.

Apologies if the rest is a bit harsh but....for someone to spend what I am assuming is (5) figures on a 50 year real estate interest and then have a bad experience with a $7.25 employee and decide to sell it, seems a bit ridiculous. Of course you did mention the food.

Chef Mickey's?!?!? Wave?!?!? ToTWL?!?!? California Grill?!?!?!? What are you smoking?

Worn rooms already. There is a point. Here is a follow up....Disney is in this as a business, what do you think they are going to do the next time capital reserves are spent during a rehab. They obviously have other resorts to compare this too. If the capital items are not lasting the 1st go round and DVC member dues go up a bit faster than expected, they are probably going to evaulate this, correct? If you bought a new house with a 30 year roof and it last 20 years, are you going to sell your house?

Sterile environment, concrete bunker, curious. Do you see significant differences between the environment at the Contemporary and the environment at Bay Lake Tower. If you do not see much of a difference, what were you expecting? DVD to develop a resort that is considered an add on to the Contempoaray but with a totally out of place different theme?

Difficult to feel for this post.

Didn't recall asking for sympathy or anyone to feel for "this post"

I posted because we have heard so many complaints while visiting over there we do go back to see our favorite Bartender at The Wave Orlando.

As for food Try the Wave at lunch during a convention. Bar full 1 Bartender in the weeds, his fault no Disneys. Try Chef Mickeys Buffet if you dont have kids. Try the food court at 9pm when the only thing on the menu is a Flatbread and a Ham and cheese sandwich on the menu. What exactly is the food at TWL? The bartenders hate it up there because the only business they get is when fireworks go off, they sell a bunch of coke to the kids the parents bring up then as soon as fireworks are over they are gone. They make nothing for tips as the TWL is a ghost town other than firework time......Ask a bartender at any other resort if they had the chance to work at TWL would they? Listen to there answer and why they wont.

BLT is DVCS ugly stepchild, there is a huge difference. Do they plan it that way I doubt it, do they put all bad CMs there, Its ridiculous to even say that. Are they different, yes they thats all there is to it. I wish they weren't, I wouldn't have sold if so. The stuff wearing out so quickly is because they used shoddy products and cut corners.

Im sorry but in a place so young the carpet should not have a worn path to and from the bathrooms already unless it was junk.

We have stayed the same room at beach club several times in 6 years, carpet holds up a hell of alot better, yes its worn but its also a hell of alot older than BLT.

In a nutshell I was looking for what I paid for which I didn't get so I sold it. Why would I jeep something or stay somewhere I hate? So I lost 800 and put my money to use in a resort I like, I'm not going to keep something I hate just for the sake of 800.00. When I called Timeshare store, the complaints I and the others that we talked to are well noted there as well as throughout the other resorts, our guide actually said the same thing, that was of course after we said we wanted to sell it. Before then he sang its praises, as soon as we told him how much we hated it he was sympathetic to our complaints as he said he had many who have said the same thing. SO AS THEY SAY NOT ALL WILL SEE THINGS THE SAME. I'm glad you enjoy over there, I wish I would have known as I would have unloaded my points to you for a great price as I didn't care what I lost just wanted out........ I hope there are many who enjoy BLT. As for us we don't. As for our friends who bought in they didn't. So why keep what you don't like? You can't put a price on happiness! After all isn't that what a vacation is all about? Happiness? Good Memories? BLT needs a Glass slipper or it will forever remain the ugly sister......

Try getting a hot dog at the Magic Kingdom during July 4th, I bet there is a pretty long line there too. What does that have to do with BLT?

Try Chef Mickeys Buffet if you dont have kids.

We have kids so we have not tried it without kids yet but I have a feeling that if we did try it without kids the food would be the same, not sure how it changes based on the ages of the party.

Try the food court at 9pm when the only thing on the menu is a Flatbread and a Ham and cheese sandwich on the menu

Dinner Only
5 pm to 12 am

Marinated Beef Flatbread

Pasta with Chicken Basil Creme Sauce

Pasta with Marinara Sauce

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vegetarian Menu

Cheese Flatbread $6.99

Pasta Marinara $5.99

Vegetable Bake - Roasted eggplant, onions, garlic, zucchini, tomatoes, potatoes and no cheese $6.99

Not sure why the above would be relevant to selling a real estate interest. If the maids aren't happy at BCV, would you sell there?

Don't have anything of value to add here besides if I just bought a car off a lot and called customer service to schedule an oil change a month later and they were rude, I wouldn't sell my car over it.

The stuff wearing out so quickly is because they used shoddy products and cut corners.

Can't argue this, of course it will all be replaced and if the shoddy products are raising dues quicker than other resorts, safe to assume it will be addressed.

Im sorry but in a place so young the carpet should not have a worn path to and from the bathrooms already unless it was junk.

Same, it will be addressed if this items are wearing out more quickly than the other resorts....eventually.

Your final paragraph seems to sum it up though. If overall you aren't happy sure it makes sense to sell. Your original post just seemed to leave some room for 'what reasons are you really selling for' feeling.

We are not owners of DVC...we did the tour thing last year when we were thinking about it. For several reason we choose not..as DVC is not for us. But when we were talking with the guy and was trying to sell us on BLT..telling us how its newer and we will own for longer then if we went to WL (our home away from home in the lodge) we looked at each other and said BLT does not have a welome feel to it..why would we want to own here. It is a very cold building in our opinion...and this was just the demo rooms at SS. If this program would have been for us we would have purached new from AKL (which we would not have been 100% happy with) or would have looked into resale at the WLV. I agree 100% that there is no point in owning something your not happy with. What good does it do you if you dont want to stay there...your lossing that window of rental.

If the maids aren't happy at BCV, would you sell there? If they were anything like the BLT CMs that interacted with us , the answer would be yes.
we owned BCV first and expected the same service.

As for the menu at Food court night we were there, it was tiny on the kiosks. I wish it was as advertised.
Just boils down to the non welcome feeling we got, sterile feeling, just for that I wouldn't use it. its kind of like keeping a car in my garage making payments on it even though I hate it and wont use it. Just doesn't make sense to me maybe I'm crazy. Why would I keep something I hate? So pay for something I wont use? I stand firmly behind my opinion / beliefs, dont expect everyone to agree with them, i was just noting that each trip we hear more complaints as we still visit or bartender friend at The Wave.

Long story short, i though it was just us but each visit we bump into at least a couple of couples who feel the same way. Thats all.

It could be said that you're not really "out" anything. Your BLT vacation cost you $800.

We stayed there 2 weeks again and as I said in my post the room was very worn and no where near Disney standards.Dented fridge, huge gouge in bench, toilet paper holder barely hanging on wall not even covering previously drilled holes, recessed light can missing. All minor things that wouldn't ruin a vacation but like I said not up to Disney standards. Much prefer our home resort at Kidani!

That right there is what is one of the best things about DVC... choice, and there is something that appeals to everyone! We love BLT... it is our home resort. I'm sorry your villas wasn't up to par. That is disappointing to hear.

Different strokes for different folks.

Everybody has things that are important to them.
And I'm not surprised to see people with strong, differing feelings on resorts. That's what this Forum is about.

Awilliams4 felt strongly about defending Bay Lake Tower, and I'm sure thousands of other Bay Lake owners would agree.

BeachClubNut prefers the Beach Club or Wilderness Lodge experience. More power to 'em!

The amazing options DVC provides in properties mean we can choose which experience we want.

Although, I can't imagine why anybody would consider staying at the Bay Lake, Beach Club, or Wilderness Lodge when the FAR SUPERIOR Boardwalk Villas are available.:p:p:p

Just kidding. I love 'em all! (but the Boardwalk just a little more)

Actually, he's "out" 18 years of vacations. BLT contracts expire in 2060. BCV expire in 2042.

Ill be dead and buried by 2060 so what would I do with my 800 then genius. BLT Still Sucks! The ugly sister still needs a glass slipper......

Personally I'm just dumbfounded that someone would actually take the time to post solely to report that he recently encountered two other likeminded individuals. Strikes me as someone who HASN'T quite gotten over that $800 yet. :dazzle:

Stayed there myself a couple months back. Neither love it nor hate it--not really my cup 'o tea. Of course, I didn't buy there either.

Room was in nearly perfect condition though--unless they deserve to be dinged for a few scrapes on the luggage rack. CM who checked us in was the best we have ever encountered at a DVC front desk.

NOT DUMB FOUNEDED Well over the 800 what is 800 in todays rate? popcorn..... 800 gets you nothing today, if money was a problem I wouldn't have DVC believe me 800 was popcorn. i WOULD HAVE LOST MORE TO GET RID OF THAT PLACE. I dont cry about 800 I spend that out in a weekend with my wife, thats why I said I wont keep what I wont use loosing 800 was the best 800 I ever spent/lost.....to suggest that Im crying over an amount as small as 800 in the scheme of things is a joke, if I cry over a small amount like 800 how could I even think of going to Disney, NEVER MIND DVC 800 DOESNT EVEN COVER THE TAXES.... been here since Tuesday spent 800 by Thursday so to say Im crying about 800 is ludicrous, if you cry about a small amount like 800 you shouldn't visit Disney let alone buy DVC....I knew my post would bring all the geniuses out... every one is an arm chair quarter back they always know whats best for everyone else..... I STAND BEHIND MY POST Im done with this Ill let all the arm chair quarterbacks decide whats best for me so they can keep the thread going....I should have learned by now not to post here. All I did was state what me my friends and others as well as the many bartenders down here have stated, some people just cant handle hearing what others say....Who cares if you disagree, you are not me. I stayed at BLT this past summer.

I have two complaints that echo the OP.

1.) No in building food service.

If you're in there during lunch and there's a down pour, unless you have food in the room you can't get a meal for the family and stay dry. It's a huge oversight. Either add food or inclose the walkway to the Contemporary.

But this is such a minor complaint to the biggest flaw.

2.) Possibly the poorest designed hotel on property.

I'm not lying when I say this is the first time I have gotten seriously lost in a hotel. It makes no sense, the room and floors do not line up correctly. The walkway location is poorly market.

Now on to the rooms. Horrible bathroom doors, poor lighting, bad choices for fixtures and seating that lead to fast wearing out, the list goes on and on.

We all have our preferences for resorts, but BLT is just poor. The only benefit it has is location, and that is a HUGE benefit.

We took the DVC tour in December of 2010. It's not for us for a number of reasons. It is great for other people though. Based on the models, the AKV are more of what I'd buy into. BLT was not as impressive. Of course, those were just models.
