Was just wondering if anyone knows if the refurb is going well. Was this just the normal yearly cleaning or were they fixing some of the on-again-off-again AA's also? Thanks for any info as usual.

Cleaning, painting, maintenance, and new lift hills were included, and I don't think we've gotten any indication it is not on time.

Awesome. Thanks SirGoofy. Hadn't heard anything on it for awhile and I know it was supposed to reopen next weekend, so that's good.

Hope for the best, plan for the worse, I suppose....

Or is it the other way around? :)

Had a friend tell me they were seen being worked on, so yep. :( I'm reserving judgement, but they were tight enough as it is. I'm 6"3 and OWCH. I can't see this helping the situation.

I feel your pain....

I guess they're trying to stop handing out FPs to "Flash" Mountain.....

I wonder if they changed anything internal. I mean they repainted the Briar Patch and looks really nice and refreshed. Hopefully they did the same to the inside.

Pain, literally.

And what about Flash Mountain?:lookaroun

I've read the lap bars are designed (obviously) to keep people in their seats and "deter" them from displaying their "assets" when the Photopass shots are taken.....although I confess mixed emotions to this news.

Some times I wish I was taller than 5' 6"... but then when I think about some of the rides at Disney, I feel blessed. How in the world do you cram on Space Mountain or BTMRR?

I guess I understand why the lapbars are needed, but it's going to slow down the load time (even more) and probably decrease the capacity (if they are individual lapbars). Does anyone know if it's going to be one big lap bar across or are they making it 2 per row only now? I used to see a lot of parents take their kids with them in the same row and sit them between them. Will this deter that from happening?

Well, my wife is 6'1", so she doesn't get much of a break either.....

And BTMRR isn't too bad, but SM does get a bit cramped....

And I haven't heard about the design of the lap bars. I'm sure someone here more "in the know" has that information....

Man, Splash is really getting lapbars? I was hoping that was just an out there rumor. I guess it'll be one of those wait and experience and see type things. Would they be there more to keep people in than safety?

Well, I guess it had to happen but that doesn't mean that I have to be happy about it. Hopefully they won't make too much difference in the ride. I'll be interested to see what type of lab bars they will be. Thanks for the update anyway.

My friend seemed pretty confident that they were on there, seeing he saw them.

we have a boat like ride with a drop like Splash at the Six Flags up here and the bars are one per row. I would guess it would be the same for splash because depending on the sizes of the people you could fit between 1-4 people in a row

Yep. This came out last year. Try a search for a photo of prototype testing

I guess it was an Internet fallacy, the commonly held belief that there were safety issues in the inclusion of a lapbar on a water ride.

I'll be interested to see exactly what they look like - I hope they don't make it even more difficult for disabled people to board the ride than it already is. Because of the step-down and the way the attraction boarding is designed, it's already pretty difficult for many - it's only going to be worse if on top of it they have to board around a lap bar.
