Splash Mountain still on schedule?

Personally I can't wait for the dang things. I'm tired of Brer Fox and Brer Bear causing commotion downstream!

:fork:

Yeah, I think the most enjoyable rides I've ever had on MK's Splash Mountain were during the first run of the Pirate & Princess Party, when the event was a total flop, it took place in February and the weather was unpleasant. The park was so dead that there were probably half as many logs running than what's usually online during normal operating hours. Not a single back up, no wait for any lifts and really you couldn't even see the log in front of you. Capacity be damned, sometimes!

Making a fairly educated guess in saying I'm one of the only people in this thread that's ridden both versions mulitple times, believe me when I tell you all the doom and gloom over lapbars is very, very silly in this case.

Rode it a few times last summer and I can definitely agree.

From an operations standpoint, I can understand the initial inefficiency claims, but the overall decrease in downtime due to intrusions would outweigh the small increase in load time (especially with the elimination of parties hemming and hawing over whether they want to sit 3 in a row or not, since it'll be strictly 2 at all times once the bars are in place).

It's not Brer Fox and Brer Bear you have to worry about...it's Brer Dumba$$ getting out of the boat for no good reason!!

Classic!! hahahahah, I always say something like that out loud when I'm on the ride and that announcement comes over the PA. "No, it's Brer IDIOT trying to leave the ride due to a lack of nerves!"

How many logs can they load at a time in Tokyo? I'm not sure getting in and out of the logs is the bottleneck for Splash Mountain throughput, I would think it's space between logs on the drops.

If I recall properly, it's 3 logs at a time in Tokyo.

Yeah, I think it's going to be a situation where even if the load/unload time increases, it may not really affect throughput on the attraction. I think similar to Test Track, there are spacing issues at certain points of Splash Mountain, and that is more important than the speed of load/unload.

That's not to say that there won't be times when someone that is slow to load or unload stalls the ride, but I don't think that would be any different with lapbars or without.

I agree; I don't think lapbars are going to be a huge impact on the ride's capacity. Its my guess that the current load/unload are will remain the same and you'll see the lapbar check in the space between the load area and the first small lift hill. As it is now, the logs are often momentarily stopped at this point to space them more evenly for the next lift hill so its a perfect area for CMs to check the lap-bars.
